The team announced the news just ahead of the 7 pm puck drop at Bridgestone Arena.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Caps?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">#Caps<\/a> defenseman Jakob Chychrun (illness) is out for tonight\u2019s game vs. the Nashville Predators.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Capitals PR (@CapitalsPR) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CapitalsPR\/status\/2010493085097013304?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">January 11, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Chychrun comes out of the lineup after playing 20:05 of ice time in the Capitals\u2019 5-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday. The Blackhawks have been dealing with a flu bug in their locker room, seeing their top two netminders unable to play in the loss.<\/p>\n<p>The absence will be Chychrun\u2019s first from a game this season. He is the team\u2019s leader in average ice time per game this season (23:15), plays the point on the first unit of the club\u2019s power play, and has racked up 32 points (15g, 17a) in 45 appearances thus far.<\/p>\n<p>With Chychrun out of action, the Capitals will dress both Declan Chisholm and Trevor van Riemsdyk.
