Syracuse, N.Y. \u2014 Syracuse defensive end DeAngelo Thompson has entered the transfer portal, his agent told ESPN<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Thompson appeared in four games for the Orange as a true freshman in 2025.<\/p>\n

Before joining Syracuse, Thompson had 10 sacks in six games as a senior at Miami Northwestern High School. He was a three-star recruit who flipped his commitment to Syracuse from Florida Atlanta.<\/p>\n

Thompson joins fellow defensive lineman and Miami Northwestern player Eric Thomas in the transfer portal. <\/p>\n

They\u2019re leaving Central New York ahead of a season that will feature four Miami Northwestern players on the roster, highlighted by five-star freshman wide receiver Calvin Russell.<\/p>\n

Syracuse remains thin at defensive end for 2026. The Orange has just four scholarship players on the edge as the spring semester begins.<\/p>\n

Jamie Tremble had the most sacks in 2025 of any returning player with just three. As a team, Syracuse collected with just 20 sacks. <\/p>\n

Syracuse did, however, add Tennessee-Martin\u2019s Keyshawn Johnson in the transfer portal. Johnson had 13.5 sacks for the Skyhawks. <\/p>\n

There is still time for Syracuse to upgrade its roster.
