The fourth Avengers: Doomsday<\/a> teaser arrived on schedule Tuesday morning with a first look at a team-up we haven’t yet seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n

Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), a.k.a. the Thing from The Fantastic Four: First Steps, exits an aircraft to meet Shuri (Letitia Wright), the current Black Panther, as well M’Baku (Winston Duke), who now introduces himself as “King M’Baku of Wakanda.”\n<\/p>\n

Marvel’s First Family traveled from their universe of Earth-828 and into the world of the Avengers, as seen in an ending tag attached to Thunderbolts*\/The New Avengers<\/a>. These heroes from the technologically advanced 1960s reality always believe in diplomacy, so it’s not a surprise that they would want to make nice with the reigning nations of this earth.\n<\/p>\n

Namor (Tenoch Huerta), Namora (Mabel Cadena), and their fellow underwater-dwelling Talokanil, who were the antagonists of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, are also present. However, now they all seem to be in an uneasy alliance in the face of the looming threat of Doom (Robert Downey Jr.).\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

“I’ve lost everyone that matters to me,” Shuri says in the footage. “The king has his duties to prepare our people for the afterlife; I have mine.”\n<\/p>\n

This particular trifecta of an Avengers: Doomsday team-up makes sense from a comic book standpoint. The character of Black Panther debuted in Marvel Comics with 1966’s Fantastic Four #52. In comics canon, the guardian of Wakanda has beef with both Namor and Doctor Victor von Doom, while Namor is more friendly with the Latverian adversary.\n<\/p>\n

Then there’s the relationship between Namor and Sue Storm. The ocean-dwelling mutant is constantly trying to woo the hero known as the Invisible Woman. While she doesn’t appear in this teaser, Vanessa Kirby will reprise her role of Sue in Avengers: Doomsday alongside Pedro Pascal as her husband, Reed Richards, and Joseph Quinn as her brother, Johnny Storm.\n<\/p>\n

This new reveal is the fourth teaser variation to screen in theaters in front of Avatar: Fire and Ash (and subsequently leak on social media) before formally arriving online on a Tuesday morning. It follows the confirmation of Chris Evans’ comeback as Steve Rogers<\/a>; a peek at Chris Hemsworth’s Thor praying before a big battle<\/a>; and the first look at X-Men veterans<\/a> Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), and James Marsden (Cyclops) returning to their Marvel roles.\n<\/p>\n

Still not seen \u2014 but confirmed for the movie \u2014 are Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), Wyatt Russell (John Walker), Lewis Pullman (Bob), David Harbour (Alexei Shostakov), Hannah John-Kamen (Ava Starr), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson),\u00a0Danny Ramirez (Joaquin Torres), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Channing Tatum (Gambit), Alan Cumming (Kurt Wagner), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), Kelsey Grammer (Hank McCoy) \u2014 and, of course, Doom himself.\n<\/p>\n

After playing Iron Man\/Tony Stark for years in the MCU, Downey returns as the comic book baddie Victor von Doom, who was first glimpsed in a post-credits scene from The Fantastic Four: First Steps<\/a>. Sue and Reed’s cosmically powered super-child, Franklin, is presumed to be an inciting part of the Avengers: Doomsday story, which will then continue into Avengers: Secret Wars.\n<\/p>\n

Doomsday is scheduled for theaters later this year on Dec. 18, with\u00a0Secret Wars\u00a0coming Dec. 17, 2027.\n<\/p>\n
