Dallas Mavericks<\/a> (15-25) are back home Wednesday night facing a familiar Western Conference test and new questions about their lineup.<\/p>\nDallas hosts the Denver Nuggets at American Airlines Center, a matchup that comes one day after news that Anthony Davis will miss at least six weeks with a hand injury. His absence reshapes the Mavs’ rotation and adds another test of depth and adaptability without Davis.<\/p>\n
It will be the second absence of at least a month this season for Davis, who missed 15 of the 16 games in November with a calf strain. He has also been sidelined by a groin injury and has now missed half of the Mavericks’ 40 games this season.<\/p>\n
Dallas will be forced to lean more heavily on their remaining frontcourt options while maintaining offensive balance against one of the league\u2019s most disciplined defenses.<\/p>\n
While rookie No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg has shown plenty of promise, Dallas is an also-ran in the Western Conference playoff race. The Mavs are well on their way to missing the postseason for the second consecutive year since reaching the 2024 NBA Finals.<\/p>\n
