\n\tActor Chris Noth<\/a> has responded to the controversy that erupted online<\/a> after he seemed to agree with an insult lobbed at Sarah Jessica Parker<\/a> in the comments of his Instagram post earlier this week, telling his followers that his \u201coff-the-cuff, slightly sarcastic response\u201d is not worth discussing.<\/p>\n

\n\tNoth, who played opposite Parker for six seasons of Sex and the City<\/a>, portrayed \u201cMr. Big,\u201d the on-again, off-again love interest of the show\u2019s central character, sex and relationships columnist Carrie Bradshaw. He returned to the role years later in the pilot episode of the revival series And Just Like That\u2026, in which Mr. Big dies of a heart attack, setting off the premise of the show with Carrie Bradshaw suddenly single again.<\/p>\n

\n\tShortly after the sequel pilot launched on HBO Max, which came at the close of the second year of the #MeToo movement around awareness of sexual abuse and harassment, Noth became embroiled in a scandal<\/a> that led to his exile from the new series. Parker and other cast members released statements<\/a> saying they support the multiple women who came forward with allegations of past sexual abuse against Noth. The actor, whose television career began on Law & Order, was ultimately edited out of a scene in the finale as he was persona non grata amid the allegations.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn 2021, Noth sent The Hollywood Reporter a statement when contacted for comment on the allegations against him: \u201cThe accusations against me made by individuals I met years, even decades, ago are categorically false.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Friday, over four years after the allegations emerged and the week Parker received the 2026 Golden Globe Carol Burnett Award, Noth shared an innocuous photo on Instagram of himself in the gym with the caption, \u201cF&@k New Year\u2019s \u2013 LETS GO!!!!\u201d Responding to his caption, one user commented, \u201cYou mean fcuk [sic] sjp & her award right? lol.\u201d Noth replied to that comment, writing, \u201cRight.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIt is unclear exactly what Noth meant with this comment and what tone he was striking \u2014 agreeing, sarcastic or something else entirely. THR reached out to his manager for clarity but did not hear back on Wednesday. Nevertheless, the comment section of the post turned into a wave of support for Noth and for the Mr. Big character over Parker\u2019s Carrie Bradshaw. <\/p>\n

\n\tSo, on Wednesday, Noth decided to comment in a new Instagram post<\/a>, featuring a headshot of the actor and the caption: \u201cMy off-the-cuff, slightly sarcastic response to a comment on the internet seems to have caused a tempest in a teapot. It is not news. It is not worth all this discussion. It is a waste of time in a world where there are more important things to worry about.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTHR reached out to a rep for Parker for comment on the initial post and comment from Noth, but the actor is remaining quiet on the entire controversy.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Golden Globes\u2019 honorary Carol Burnett Award is presented each year to an individual who has made \u201coutstanding contributions to television on or off the screen.\u201d Parker joins Ryan Murphy, Ellen DeGeneres, Norman Lear and Ted Danson.<\/p>\n
