{"id":408732,"date":"2026-01-15T12:29:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-15T12:29:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/408732\/"},"modified":"2026-01-15T12:29:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-15T12:29:09","slug":"stephen-ross-says-hes-turned-down-offers-of-close-to-15-billion-for-the-dolphins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/408732\/","title":{"rendered":"Stephen Ross says he&#8217;s turned down offers of close to $15 billion for the Dolphins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dolphins owner Stephen Ross says he has turned down offers of close to $15 billion to sell the team.<\/p>\n<p>Ross said he could make a fortune from selling the Dolphins, but he doesn\u2019t see anything better to invest his money in than the NFL.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think there\u2019s a better asset,\u201d <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=g7ucfAbGxyA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Ross told Bloomberg<\/a>. \u201cI know what I\u2019ve been offered, numbers you wouldn\u2019t believe . . . Close to $15 billion. Pretty high numbers. But you say, \u2018Where would you put the money? Then what would I do with it?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 85-year-old Ross says he plans to keep the team in his family, and that his son-in-law, Daniel Sillman, will run the Dolphins after him. Sillman is currently the CEO of Relevent Sports Group, a sports marketing and media rights firm that Ross founded. Sillman worked for Ross before he married Ross\u2019s daughter.<\/p>\n<p>Ross <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/nfl\/profootballtalk\/rumor-mill\/news\/nfl-approves-sale-of-limited-interest-in-the-dolphins\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">sold 10 percent of the franchise<\/a> to the private equity firm Ares, but Ross said he did that deal only because it left him and his family in control of the team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I sell 10, 20 percent I have total control,\u201d Ross said.<\/p>\n<p>Pro sports franchise values keep increasing, and a $15 billion sale would be the biggest in the history of sports.
