The Golden State Warriors<\/a> have less than a month to complete a trade to help turn their season around.<\/p>\n

Remaining inactive would come back to bite the franchise, leaving it mediocre and squandering the final years of Stephen Curry\u2019s illustrious career.<\/p>\n

Fortunately for the Dubs, CBS Sports\u2019 Sam Quinn has the franchise covered, as he recently suggested that Golden State would benefit from sending its 6-foot-7 forward<\/a> to the Dallas Mavericks<\/a> for a four-time NBA champion.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Mavericks are seeking any high-upside young players they can find in an effort to build a long-term team around Cooper Flagg,\u201d Quinn wrote Thursday. \u201cSome sort of swap involving the two of them, probably with more value going to Dallas, makes some sense.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo here’s my pitch: Kuminga and Buddy Hield for (Daniel) Gafford and the bloated contract of Klay Thompson. Golden State gets its big man. Dallas takes its upside swing and gets off of Thompson, who’s making almost $17 million next season, compared to Buddy Hield, who’s guaranteed for only $3 million.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEven if Thompson is overpaid, let’s be honest about what’s happening in Golden State right now. Appearances might mean as much as results.\u201d<\/p>\n

Swapping Kuminga for Thompson would be the best-case scenario for the Warriors this season. After all, Thompson made a name for himself with Golden State early in his career, and with the Dub unlikely to land Brooklyn Nets<\/a> star Michael Porter, Thompson would unquestionably be the next best option.<\/p>\n

Thompson, who\u2019s averaging 11.3 points on 37.6% field goal shooting and 36.6% three-point shooting with the Mavericks this season, was a reliable long-range threat with the Warriors during his successful 12-year tenure with the franchise.<\/p>\n

Things may look shaky now, but there\u2019s no reason to rule out the possibility of Thompson improving his play drastically with Golden State during his second stint.<\/p>\n

Keep an eye out for a potential blockbuster reunion involving Thompson and the Warriors.<\/p>\n
