Oklahoma State<\/a> transfer wide receiver Gavin Freeman<\/a> has flipped his portal commitment to Baylor<\/a>, On3 has learned. Freeman, who was the No. 793 ranked player (No. 119 WR) in\u00a0On3\u2019s Transfer Portal Industry Rating<\/a>, originally committed to Tennessee<\/a> on Jan. 10.<\/p>\n

Freeman was the 1-11 Cowboys\u2019 leading receiver last season. The Oklahoma City native hauled in 53 receptions for 481 yards and four touchdowns. Across four collegiate seasons (two at\u00a0Oklahoma<\/a>\u00a0and two at\u00a0Oklahoma State), Freeman boasts 81 career catches for 667 yards and five touchdowns.<\/p>\n

Prior to enrolling at\u00a0Oklahoma,\u00a0Freeman was ranked as a four-star prospect and the No. 1,571 overall player in the\u00a02022 class<\/a>, according to the Rivals Industry Rating. He was the No. 141 CB in his class and the No. 27 overall player from the state of Oklahoma, hailing from\u00a0Heritage Hall<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Baylor head coach Dave Aranda to return for seventh season<\/p>\n

The university\u00a0announced<\/a>\u00a0on Nov. 21 that Aranda would be returning as head football coach for the 2026 season, ending weeks of speculation about his future amid program uncertainty and administrative turnover.\u00a0The upcoming season will mark his seventh in Waco, which would make him the second-longest-tenured\u00a0Baylor\u00a0head coach in 33 seasons (Art Briles<\/a>\u00a0coached eight seasons from 2008-2015).<\/p>\n

The decision was made public in a detailed statement from\u00a0Baylor\u00a0President\u00a0Linda A. Livingstone<\/a>. She\u00a0cited\u00a0stability, alignment with the university\u2019s mission, and long-term strategic priorities for bringing back the California native.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter careful evaluation and consideration, we have decided to retain Coach\u00a0Dave Aranda\u00a0as the leader of our football program,\u201d Livingstone\u00a0wrote<\/a>. \u201cWe recognize this decision will generate strong opinions. Let me be clear: Baylor expects excellence, accountability and competitiveness at the highest level. We are not complacent, and we are not settling for mediocrity.\u201d<\/p>\n
