{"id":410268,"date":"2026-01-16T05:48:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-16T05:48:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/410268\/"},"modified":"2026-01-16T05:48:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T05:48:08","slug":"superfoods-supplement-powders-recalled-for-link-to-salmonella-nbc-chicago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/410268\/","title":{"rendered":"Superfoods supplement powders recalled for link to Salmonella \u2013 NBC Chicago"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two flavors of supplement powders were recalled after they were linked to a new Salmonella outbreak, leaving 45 people across the U.S. sick, including in Illinois and several Midwestern states. <\/p>\n<p>New York based Superfoods, Inc. issued a voluntary recall of two flavors of their Live it Up Super Greens supplement powder sold in both bags and sticks, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/safety\/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts\/superfoods-inc-dba-live-it-recalls-live-it-super-greens-because-possible-health-risk\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Food and Drug Administration announced Thursday<\/a>. Products in both their original flavor and the Wild Berry flavor were recalled.<\/p>\n<p>The products were sold nationwide through the company&#8217;s website and on Amazon since July 2025. <\/p>\n<p>Four people in Illinois reported they got sick with Salmonella, along with 11 in Wisconsin, one in Michigan, one in Missouri and one in Iowa, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/salmonella\/outbreaks\/supergreenssupplementpowders-1-26\/locations.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">map of the outbreak<\/a> from the CDC. Illnesses started between August 22 and December 30 of last year. <\/p>\n<p>The recall applies to the following products:<\/p>\n<p>Live it Up Super Greens, NET WT 8.5 oz (240g) with UPC 860013190804.<\/p>\n<p>Live it Up Super Greens, 30 \u2013 0.28oz (8g) sticks, NET WT. 8.47 oz (240g) with UPC 850077468063<\/p>\n<p>Live it Up Super Greens, Wild Berry, NET WT 8.5OZ (240g), with UPC 860013190811<\/p>\n<p>Live it Up Super Greens, Wild Berry, 30 \u2013 0.32oz (9g) Sticks, NET WT. 9.52oz (270g), with UPC 850077468070<\/p>\n<p>The recalled products are distributed in green pouches, the company said. The lot code is printed on the bottom back of the packaging and begins with the letter &#8220;A&#8221; or the number &#8220;3.&#8221; Recalled products have expiration dates between August 2026 to January 2028. <\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Medium-image_1_14701-15-2026-22-17-03.png\" loading=\"lazy\"   alt=\" \"\/><\/p>\n<p>Illinois Department of Public Health issued a warning about the recall on social media Thursday. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Do not consume &#8211; throw away or return,&#8221; IDPH said in the post. <\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\udea8 RECALL ALERT: Live it Up Super Greens powers (original &amp; wild berry) exp 8\/2026-1\/2028 linked to a multistate Salmonella outbreak including Illinois.<\/p>\n<p>Do not consume &#8211; throw away or return.
