WASHINGTON \u2014 The Department of Health and Human Services will \u200blaunch a study on cellphone radiation, a department spokesman said on Thursday, building on Health Secretary Robert \u2060F. Kennedy Jr.’s criticism linking them to neurological damage and cancer.<\/p>\n
Last \u200cyear, the department said 22 states had restricted cellphone \u2060use in schools to improve the mental and \u200cphysical health of \u200dchildren under the “Make America Healthy Again” movement.<\/p>\n
The \u2060Food and Drug Administration \u2060also took down old webpages saying cellphones are not dangerous.<\/p>\n
“The FDA removed webpages with old conclusions about cellphone radiation while HHS undertakes a study on electromagnetic radiation and health research to identify gaps in knowledge, including on new \u200dtechnologies, to ensure safety and efficacy,” said HHS spokesman Andrew Nixon.<\/p>\n
“The study was directed by President Trump’s MAHA Commission in its strategy report,” Nixon added.<\/p>\n
However, some webpages of agencies such as the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention \u200ccontinue to say that, to date, there is no credible evidence pointing \u200cto health problems from cellphone radiation.<\/p>\n
The National Cancer Institute, under the National Institutes of Health, says “evidence to date suggests that cellphone use does not cause brain or other \u2060kinds of cancer in \u200bhumans.”<\/p>\n
