Griffin, competing this week at the Sony Open, has Zurich’s logo on his left collar Getty Images <\/p>\nZurich Insurance has added a pair of new golfers as ambassadors with the new season kicking off, with Shane Lowry and Ben Griffin coming aboard. Along with being ranked in the top 30 of the Official World Golf Ranking, both are recent winners of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, the annual team event on the PGA Tour. Griffin teamed with Andrew Novak to win the 2025 tournament, while Lowry and Rory McIlroy took the event the year prior.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe look at them both, obviously the quality golf matters, but then we align it in through the values for us,\u201d said John Diaz, Zurich\u2019s president of customer and distribution management. \u201cAnd when we look at Shane and Ben, it really lines up the Zurich brand from the integrity, the resilience, teamwork. They\u2019ve got that mix.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lowry and Griffin, who will wear the Zurich logo on their collars, have very different stories. Lowry is a global player and a past Open champion who has been a major player on the golf scene for 15-plus years. He\u2019s lived in the top 50 in the world and is known for not being afraid to speak his mind both on the course and on camera. Lowry also added RBC as a new sponsor in the offseason, as well as with investment firm Consello.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe kind of brings that every man, down to earth, super approachable attitude and connects with people,\u201d Diaz said. \u201cAnd so when he was available, we jumped all over that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Griffin, on the other hand, has burst onto the scene in the past 18 months and now is in the top 10 of the OWGR. In 2021, the financial strain of playing professional golf was too much for Griffin, and he began working as a mortgage loan officer. He worked his way back to the PGA Tour, and last year, only Scottie Scheffler had more top-10 finishes. Griffin has become one of the game\u2019s more popular players and is expected to have a prominent role in the upcoming Netflix \u201cFull Swing\u201d season. During the championship ceremony at last year\u2019s Zurich Classic, he even let company officials know he had recently purchased a builders risk policy from Zurich.<\/p>\n
\u201cBen was like shot out of a cannon,\u201d Diaz said. \u201cHe\u2019s had this meteoric rise and has a really cool comeback story.\u201d<\/p>\n

Griffin and Lowry also are involved with TGL. Lowry plays for The Bay GC, while Griffin is expected to join New York Golf Club as an alternate.<\/p>\n
Lowry is managed by Brian Moran of Shane Lowry Golf, while Sportfive\u2019s Jeremy Elliott handles Griffin\u2019s affairs. CAA works with Zurich on its golf sponsorships.<\/p>\n
Zurich\u2019s other golf ambassadors are PGA Tour players Billy Horschel and Sahith Theegala and LPGA player Albane Valenzuela. Collin Morikawa, who was with Zurich in the past, is no longer an ambassador.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Zurich last year renewed its title sponsorship<\/a> with the PGA Tour for the Zurich Classic through 2030.
