Stern\u2019s departure from the project\u2014it\u2019s not wholly clear whether he was fired or left the pilot voluntarily\u2014comes a few days after the actor was charged with a single misdemeanor charge of engaging or agreeing to engage in prostitution in Ventura County, California.<\/p>\n<p>The pilot in question, titled\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.avclub.com\/rachel-bloom-new-sitcom-husband-dan-gregor-do-i-want-kids-steve-levitan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Do You Want Kids?<\/a>, stars Bloom and Rory Scovel as a couple who are shown in two realities\u2014one in which they have a baby and one in which they don\u2019t. Bloom co-wrote the series with her husband Dan Gregor. Stern co-starred on the pilot as Freddy, \u201cthe gruff patriarch of the Zilbalodis family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The charge against Stern was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2026\/01\/12\/daniel-stern-charged-soliciting-prostitution\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">publicized by\u00a0TMZ\u00a0on January 12<\/a>, about a month after the incident in question reportedly occurred, and shortly after prosecutors decided to formally charge him. Neither Stern, nor ABC, have made public comments about his departure from\u00a0Do You Want Kids?<\/p>\n<p>Although best known for his work in TV and film in the \u201980s and \u201990s, Stern has continued to appear regularly on modern TV. He had a recurring role on Aidy Bryant\u2019s Hulu series\u00a0Shrill, and had a starring role in the most recent season of Apple TV+\u2019s\u00a0For All Mankind.
