{"id":412691,"date":"2026-01-17T09:59:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-17T09:59:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/412691\/"},"modified":"2026-01-17T09:59:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-17T09:59:11","slug":"ducks-trade-for-bruins-forward-jeffrey-viel-give-up-4th-rounder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/412691\/","title":{"rendered":"Ducks trade for Bruins forward Jeffrey Viel, give up 4th-rounder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jan 16, 2026, 02:32 PM ET<\/p>\n<p>ANAHEIM, Calif. &#8212; The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/ana\/anaheim-ducks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ducks<\/a> have acquired forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/player\/_\/id\/4588188\/jeffrey-viel\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jeffrey Viel<\/a> from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/bos\/boston-bruins\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bruins<\/a> in a trade for a fourth-round draft pick.<\/p>\n<p>The Bruins will get either <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/det\/detroit-red-wings\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Detroit<\/a>&#8216;s pick or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/phi\/philadelphia-flyers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Philadelphia<\/a>&#8216;s pick, whichever is better, in the fourth round of the 2026 draft in the deal announced Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Viel is scoreless with 30 penalty minutes in 10 games this season for Boston, and he hasn&#8217;t scored an NHL point since the 2021-22 season with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/sj\/san-jose-sharks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">San Jose Sharks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The physical forward has spent most of his professional career in the AHL and has five points and 183 penalty minutes in 64 career NHL games with the Bruins and Sharks. He scored 40 points for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/team\/_\/name\/wpg\/winnipeg-jets\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Winnipeg Jets<\/a>&#8216; AHL affiliate in the 2023-24 season.<\/p>\n<p>The Ducks already have physical forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nhl\/player\/_\/id\/3067822\/ross-johnston\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ross Johnston<\/a> on their roster.
