Liverpool<\/a> dropped yet more points in the Premier League<\/a> on Saturday afternoon, as they fell further behind the top three and faltered in the race for Champions League football.<\/p>\n

And, after developments in world football in recent weeks, it could be that the best move to make is ensuring Arne Slot’s<\/a> final game in charge of the Reds came in their disappointing draw.<\/p>\n

Liverpool were slightly unlucky against Burnley as they were held 1-1 at Anfield, but dropping points against one of the league’s worst sides is a massive cause for concern for Slot, and Xabi Alonso’s<\/a> recent exit from Real Madrid should give massive pointers towards the club’s next managerial move.<\/p>\n

Arne Slot’s Premier League Form Means There is Heat on His Tenure<\/p>\n

Liverpool were unfortunate not to beat the Clarets with Dominik Szoboszlai missing a penalty, Hugo Ekitike having a goal ruled out for offside, and various chances going begging despite Florian Wirtz’s stunning opener.<\/p>\n

Yet Marcus Edwards’ equaliser on the counter-attack handed Scott Parker’s side an unlikely draw, and in the race for European football, it’s not good enough from the Merseyside outfit.<\/p>\n

This season alone, Liverpool have dropped points at Anfield to Manchester United and Nottingham Forest in losses – whilst promoted trio Sunderland, Leeds and now Burnley have taken points in score draws.<\/p>\n

That statistic alone should prove to be concerning for Liverpool bosses. It’s already 12 points dropped from 11 games at Anfield, which is more than their entire home tally from last season.<\/p>\n

Alonso, for all of his slight downfalls this season, only lost four home games over two years at Bayer Leverkusen, and just two this season with Real Madrid – meaning he’s created a fortress of sorts during his young managerial career, seeing him labelled as ‘one of the best in the world’.<\/a><\/p>\n

Liverpool Must Act Now in the Race for Xabi Alonso’s Signature<\/p>\n

With one of the world’s best young managers being free on the market, clubs will be queueing up in their hordes to land the Spaniard.<\/p>\n

But his emotional connection with Liverpool could tip them ahead of any other interested parties in the search for a potential new gaffer. Alonso spent five years at Liverpool, scoring 19 goals in 210 games for the Reds and famously notching the equaliser against AC Milan in the ‘Istanbul’ Champions League final in 2005 after being 3-0 down.<\/p>\n

Alonso won four trophies in his time at Liverpool and if he was to extend that trophy cabinet in the managerial hotseat, he’d become a bonafide legend at Anfield.<\/p>\n
