A golf author has ripped into President Donald Trump and his supporters after the emergence of bombshell testimony from MAGA Sen. Lindsey Graham.<\/p>\n

The South Carolina senator was among a slate of Republicans who secretly testified under oath in 2022 before a grand jury as part of a criminal prosecution against Trump, following his repeated claims of 2020 election fraud.<\/p>\n

The case was ultimately dismissed, but transcripts obtained by The New York Times<\/a> reveal candor from key members of the GOP, including Graham, who was asked about rumors that Trump can be unsporting on the golf course.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome people say you may outdrive him, but you\u2019re not going to outdrive his caddy,\u201d Graham, a regular Trump golf buddy, said. \u201cIt is what it is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Longtime golf writer and Trump critic Rick Reilly<\/a>, 67, who wrote the 2019 book Commander in Cheat<\/a> about Trump\u2019s golfing career, soon pounced on Graham\u2019s words.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo all the MAGAs who said I lied in my book about Trump cheating like a three-card money dealer on the golf course,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Reilly is a frequent detractor of Trump\u2019s self-proclaimed golfing prowess.<\/p>\n

In a 2024 interview with MSNBC, he said, \u201cHe\u2019s never won a championship at a course he doesn\u2019t own and operate.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the interview, Reilly alleged that Trump has capitalized on the great distances players can be apart to give himself an advantage.<\/p>\n

He \u201calways gets a turbo-charged golf cart that goes three times as fast as yours, so he\u2019s always 200 yards ahead, and that gives him time to cheat,\u201d the golf writer claimed.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne time in L.A., he was playing $50 a hole with these three guys, he hits it in the pond. They see the splash. By the time they get there, it\u2019s in the middle of the fairway, and they\u2019re like, \u2018What the F, Donald?\u2019 And he goes, \u2018It must\u2019ve been the tide.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s golfing escapades were in the spotlight over the summer, when footage appeared of him playing at his courses in Scotland and New Jersey, which did not impress Reilly one iota.<\/p>\n

In a clip from the commander-in-chief\u2019s summer on the links, one of his caddies appears to drop a ball on the green for him to play.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo you know, it\u2019s NEVER legal for your caddie to drop a ball. YOU can drop one, but never on a green. And since this was a full-score event, it\u2019s not legal for Trump to drag the ball into the hole,\u201d Reilly posted<\/a> on X.<\/p>\n

In the summer, Trump claimed he\u2019d won 38 club championships, drawing raised eyebrows from many. Among those querying Trump\u2019s credentials as a top player was golf coach Craig Normansell, who told the Daily Beast<\/a>, \u201cHe can clearly step up to a ball and strike it, but when it comes to the short game, he looks like he\u2019s going to be found out sooner or later. It certainly doesn\u2019t look like the level of someone who\u2019s won 18 club championships.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a statement to the Daily Beast, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung said: \u201cRick fantasizes about having a golf game as good as President Trump. But instead of putting in the hard work to improve his s—ty game, Rick allows his severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome to completely take over his life.\u201d<\/p>\n
