Two of hockey\u2019s best swapped jerseys at MedStar Capitals Iceplex on Saturday in another historic moment of Alex Ovechkin\u2019s<\/a> 21st and potentially final NHL season.<\/p>\n

Ovechkin, the NHL\u2019s all-time goals leader, and Marie-Philip Poulin, who is considered the greatest player in women\u2019s hockey history, exchanged sweaters during the Montreal Victoire\u2019s practice in Arlington, VA. Pierre-Luc Dubois<\/a> and Catherine Dubois also swapped jerseys as well. The Victoire play the New York Sirens in a game at Capital One Arena on Sunday, where there\u2019s expected to be a capacity crowd.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, that happened quite quick,\u201d Poulin said. \u201cIt caught me a little bit by surprise, but it\u2019s awesome, obviously. Ovi, Pierre-Luc, they do so much for hockey, and getting to know a little bit of Pierre-Luc and meeting Ovi, it\u2019s special.\u201d<\/p>\n

The moment happened towards the end of the team\u2019s skate, when Ovechkin and Dubois, both in sweats, ambled onto the Victoire\u2019s bench, surprising the players and saying hello.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to say welcome to DC,\u201d Dubois said. \u201cGood luck tomorrow in your game. I think we\u2019re going to be on the plane, but we\u2019ll be trying to catch up and watch.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWelcome, guys,\u201d Ovechkin said. \u201cGood luck!\u201d<\/p>\n

When the swap between Ovechkin and Poulin happened, the Capitals captain spoke in French to say thank you.<\/p>\n

\u201cMerci beaucoup,\u201d he said, smiling. \u201cYou wanna sign [the jersey]?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s up to you,\u201d she replied.<\/p>\n

As Ovechkin nodded in the affirmative, the Victoire players cheered.<\/p>\n

On the international stage, Poulin is a three-time Olympic gold medallist and four-time World Champion with the Canadian national team. She has scored the gold-medal-winning goal in three of the four Olympics she\u2019s played in (2010, 2014, and 2022), earning the nickname Captain Clutch for her heroics.<\/p>\n

Poulin first completed the \u201cgolden goal hat trick\u201d at international competitions when she scored the game-winning goal at the 2021 IIHF Women\u2019s World Championship. She has served as the captain of Team Canada since 2015.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Ovechkin has done jersey swaps this season with many of the NHL\u2019s biggest stars, including Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk<\/a>, Los Angeles Kings forward Anze Kopitar<\/a>, Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin<\/a>, and Florida Panthers menace Brad Marchand<\/a>. The Capitals captain appears to have potentially done one with Connor McDavid as well<\/a> after the Capitals\u2019 7-4 win over the Edmonton Oilers on November 19.<\/p>\n
