Josh Sonni-Lambie scored his 15th goal of the season to hand Liverpool U18s a 1-0 victory over Newcastle<\/a> on Saturday, making it two wins from two in 2026.<\/p>\n

The 18-year-old finished clinically with his left foot after good work from Erik Farkas out wide and an eventual assist from Finn Inglethorpe, as the latter\u2019s good form continues.<\/p>\n

It was Inglethorpe\u2019s fourth assist in the space of seven days, having registered three in the aforementioned triumph over Stoke.<\/p>\n

For the exciting Sonni-Lambie, it\u2019s now 13 goals in 17 appearances for Liverpool\u2019s U18s and 15 in 25 overall at youth team level for the club, including for the U21s and U19s.<\/p>\n

He missed the opportunity to make it 2-0 soon after, being thwarted when clean through on goal, but Liverpool still saw out the final exchanges to seal an important and impressive victory.<\/p>\n

Simon Wiles\u2019 side were looking to build on last weekend\u2019s 4-2 win at home to Stoke in the U18s Premier League<\/a>, taking on a Magpies side nine points ahead of them going into the game.<\/p>\n

While the hosts naturally went into the game as favourites, Liverpool produced a dogged performance that bodes well moving forward.<\/p>\n

It was Newcastle<\/a> who made the stronger start out of the two sides, with DJ Bernard forced into a save, but Wiles\u2019 team grew into proceedings.<\/p>\n

After going in 0-0 at half-time, it was Liverpool who made the breakthrough, thanks to Sonni-Lambie\u2019s strike nine minutes into the second half.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t just a positive afternoon for Sonni-Lambie, though, with a number of players impressing for the visitors.<\/p>\n

Right-back DJ Esdaille shone in a rare centre-back role, while the midfield unit of Farkas (pictured above), Joe Upton and Haydn Murray-Holme also caught the eye.<\/p>\n

It was also a good day for winger Josh Abe, who made a welcome return from a shoulder injury.<\/p>\n

Next up for Liverpool\u2019s seventh-placed youngsters is the visit of Burnley<\/a> in the league next Saturday, with the Clarets 12th in the table.<\/p>\n
