Kristi Noem was cornered into admitting the ICE agent involved in the fatal shooting of Renee Good<\/a> was being investigated per protocol.<\/p>\n

The Department of Homeland Security Secretary was confronted by CBS News\u2019 Face the Nation host Margaret Brennan about whether the agent Jonathan Ross\u2019 conduct was being reviewed after the shooting in Minneapolis on Jan. 7.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are following the exact same investigative and review process that we always have under ICE and under the Department of Homeland Security and within the administration. The exact same policy that the Biden administration used,\u201d Noem said during the interview Sunday.<\/p>\n

Brennan interruped: \u201cSo his actions are being reviewed?\u201d<\/p>\n

Noem ignored the cut-in and continued: \u201cWe haven\u2019t changed any of that.\u201d <\/p>\n

She then rejected Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz\u2019s accusation that Ross was the \u201conly person not being investigated for the shooting of Renee Good.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI would not listen to Governor Walz. He has a very bad track record,\u201d Noem said.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the conversation, Noem had been more reluctant to confirm whether Ross had been subject to the standard three days of administrative leave.<\/p>\n

\"KristiMargaret Brennan couldn’t get a clear ‘yes’ or ‘no’ from Noem, but was told the DHS was following the ‘exact same protocols’ as always. CBS News <\/p>\n

\u201cIs he back at work? Did you give him his three days of suspension?\u201d Brennan asked.<\/p>\n

Noem was silent for a moment before responding: \u201cWe followed the exact same protocols that we always have for years as to investigations into these situations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brennan, who had earlier noted that Ross was released from the hospital the same day as the shooting<\/a>, asked again: \u201cThree days of administrative leave?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not going to talk about his medical records,\u201d Noem said, before adding that her concern was for law enforcement officers to be able to work with the knowledge that \u201cthey can do so safely and that the media and people aren\u2019t going to attack them for standing up for what\u2019s right.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brennan asked Noem her question again, this time framing it around Walz, who claimed that Ross\u2019 actions were not officially looked into.<\/p>\n

Using Minnesota fraud concerns<\/a> as a reason to dismiss Walz\u2019s claim, Noem stated: \u201cHe certainly doesn\u2019t have good judgment in these types of situations and I\u2019m not going to be taking any advice from him in how we implement the law and protect people.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"ANoem said that Ross and other agents knew their actions were liable for investigation, but that they needed protection from ‘the liberals.’ The Daily Beast\/Youtube <\/p>\n

The DHS head has repeatedly blamed \u201cthe liberals\u201d for their treatment of Ross, and minutes after Good\u2019s shooting\u2014and before any potential investigation could have taken place\u2014branded the mother of three a \u201cdomestic terrorist\u201d<\/a> and claimed that she had been trying to hit Ross with her car.<\/p>\n
