Now that former Vice President Kamala Harris<\/a> no longer holding office Washington, she seems to be embracing her home state of California.<\/p>\n

The former presidential candidate and her husband, former Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff<\/a>, just dropped more than $8 million on a mansion in a swanky Malibu neighborhood. Read on for all the details.<\/p>\n

Kamala Harris Jsut Bought a Beachside Malibu Mansion<\/p>\n

As first reported by the New York Post<\/a>, former Vice President Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff purchased an $8.15 million home in the Point Dume neighborhood of Malibu<\/a>, located in Los Angeles County. Point Dume is a gorgeous neighborhood known for its cliffs, beaches and celebrity residents, including Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson, Jeff Bezos, Bob Dylan and Sean Penn, per Robb Report<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Compass real estate<\/a> agent Christopher Cortazzo brokered Harris and Emhoff’s purchase of the home. According to the home’s Zillow listing<\/a>, it features 4,000 square feet of living space, three-quarters of an acre of land, four bedrooms, six bathrooms and beach views.<\/p>\n

Inside the home, which was built in 1979, there are beamed ceilings, a breakfast bar, a formal dining room, an eat-in kitchen, a wet bar, skylights, a fireplace<\/a>, a bidet<\/a>, stone counters and walk-in closets. Outside, you’ll find a heated pool, five parking spaces, an in-ground spa and a fire pit<\/a>. The home is also protected with a security gate.<\/p>\n

Where Does Kamala Harris Live Now?<\/p>\n

Kamala Harris seems to currently live in the Los Angeles area.<\/p>\n

In 2012, Doug Emhoff purchased a house in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles in for $2.7 million. When the couple got married in 2014, Harris moved in and legally became a co-owner of the house, per the Wall Street Journal<\/a>. The house then served as their primary residence for many years.<\/p>\n

Per the Brentwood home’s Zillow listing<\/a>, 2012 is the last time it was sold, so Harris and Emhoff seemingly still own it. It’s unclear if they still live in Brentwood and are using the new Malibu mansion as a vacation home, or if they plan to entirely move out of Brentwood and relocate to Malibu.<\/p>\n

Additionally, in 2017, when she became a senator, Harris purchased an apartment in Washington near the White House; she then sold it in 2021, the year she became Vice President, perTown & Country Magazine<\/a>. During her four years as Vice President, Kamala Harris lived with Doug Emhoff at Number One Observatory Circle, where the VP always lives. She seems to no longer own any property in Washington.<\/p>\n
