During an appearance on her former costar Jennie Garth<\/a>‘s I Choose Me\u00a0podcast<\/a>, Carteris, 65, explained why her character was never seen in a bathing suit throughout her duration on the show.<\/p>\n \u201cAaron Spelling, I remember before we started the summer episodes, [saying,] ‘All right, ladies, we’re going to be wearing bathing suits in the summer, so you might want to know that,'” she said of the show’s executive producer.<\/p>\n “I was like, ‘What does that mean?’ I refused to wear a bathing suit. I mean, I had a cute little body at the time, I think, but it enraged me that that was the conversation.”<\/p>\n “I just didn’t want to objectify myself. So I never did,” she added.<\/p>\n She was quick to note, however, that it was never an issue with producers.<\/p>\n “They never challenged me on it at\u00a090210. I\u2019m sure it made it so certain things they chose for me not to do in the show, because I just wouldn’t do that. I don\u2019t want to be seen that way,” she said.<\/p>\n Carteris’ character, Andrea \u2014 the smart and socially awkward editor of the school newspaper \u2014 was one of the primary leads of Beverly Hills, 90210 for its first five seasons.
