Colin Jost does in fact play about Scarlett Johansson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Following news of The Avengers star being replaced by Zoe Salda\u00f1a<\/a> as the highest-grossing actor of all time, Colin couldn\u2019t help but poke fun at his wife\u2014and himself\u2014during a hilarious joke on Saturday Night Live\u2019s Weekend Update.<\/p>\n

\u201cZoe Salda\u00f1a\u2014who stars in the new Avatar movie\u2014has surpassed Scarlett Johansson to become the highest grossing actress of all time,\u201d he said during the Jan. 17 episode of SNL while a bar graph of both the actress\u2019 earnings was displayed on-screen. \u201cOkay, well let\u2019s see what happens if you include the box office from Scarlett\u2019s husband\u2019s movies.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scarlett\u2019s earnings, which began at $15.4 billion, dropped to $15.1 billion after Colin, 43, delivered the punchline. And the comedian couldn\u2019t help but react with the crowd\u2019s laughter. As he added through giggles, \u201cIt went down?\u201d<\/p>\n

Colin\u2019s comments come days after it was reported that the Emilia P\u00e9rez actress surpassed Scarlett<\/a>\u2014who is mom to daughter Rose, 11, with ex-husband Romain Dauriac and Cosmo, 4, with the Weekend Update host\u2014in being Hollywood\u2019s top-earning actor thanks to James Cameron\u2019s box office-crushing Avatar trilogy.<\/p>\n

Indeed, Avatar: Fire and Ash brought in a whopping $1.23 billion at the worldwide box office Jan. 12, according to Box Office Mojo<\/a>, bringing the total gross of all movies starring Zoe to $16.8 billion, per Screen Rant<\/a>. Those films include Star Trek, Avengers: End Game and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.<\/p>\n

Scarlett, 41, previously held the record at $16.4 billion, while the rest of the top five is filled out by their Marvel colleagues Samuel L. Jackson<\/a>, Robert Downey Jr.<\/a> and Chris Pratt<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And this wouldn\u2019t be the first time that the SNL star has made jokes surrounding Scarlett\u2019s peers. Previously, he shared a lighthearted reaction to his wife\u2019s viral kiss<\/a> with her Jurassic World Rebirth costar Jonathan Bailey<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI guess in Jurassic Park terms, the attack always comes from the raptor you never thought was there. Of all the threats out there, I wasn\u2019t thinking it was Jonathan,\u201d Colin joked in a July 2025 interview with Entertainment Tonight<\/a>. \u201cI think it\u2019s going to be OK. People really blew it out of proportion. If someone kisses their friend hello, it\u2019s pretty nice.\u201d<\/p>\n

But there was no bad blood between Colin and the Bridgerton star. After all, the two even proposed a solution to make the whole situation more fair.<\/p>\n

\u201cJonathan is an out gay man\u2014it didn\u2019t seem like the biggest threat,\u201d Colin quipped. \u201cJonathan and I were at the red carpet like, \u2018I guess we have to kiss now? Will that close the loop?\u201d<\/p>\n

“Costco has removed the roast beef sandwich from its menu,” Colin Jost began on Weekend Update, reading the lines Michael Che wrote for him for their joke swap, which they do not see in advance. “But I ain’t trippin’. I’ve been eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid.”<\/p>\n

Scarlett Johansson\u2014who shares son<\/a> Cosmo, 3, with Jost and is also a mom to daughter Rose, 10, from her previous marriage to Romain Dauriac\u2014was then shown backstage, watching her husband on a TV screen and mouthing the words, “Oh my God!”<\/p>\n

The actress’ husband continued, “No, no, I’m just playin’, baby. You know I don’t go downtown.”<\/p>\n

“You know, last time we did ‘joke swap,’ I made Colin do some tasteless jokes comparing your vagina to Costco roast beef,” Che told the actress. “Well, the fact is, I was just lashing out because I’m jealous. I’ve never even seen a human vagina.”<\/p>\n

Che then turned his attention to his costar. “And, Colin, I’m sorry, too, because I owe you everything,” he said. “When Colin discovered me, I was selling crack outside the Bronx Zoo. And now look at me, selling crack outside the American Girl doll store.”<\/p>\n
