Stellan Skarsg\u00e5rd has revealed what it takes to balance filming over 100 projects alongside raising a brood of children.<\/p>\n

The 74-year-old Swedish native has eight children between the ages of 49 to 13\u2014six of whom are also actors<\/a>\u2014and only put an end to fathering the next generation of Hollywood stars by opting to have a vasectomy.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s insane,\u201d he told CBS News<\/a> of his childrens\u2019 success in the TV and film industry. \u201cI mean, what is the chance?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t encourage them. They have no illusions about the business. They see I am I\u2019m happy and I\u2019m enjoying what I\u2019m doing, so they probably learn from that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pointing out that the age ranges of his kids means that he\u2019s been a father as long as an actor\u2014\u201cI\u2019ve had kids in the \u201970s, in the \u201980s, in the \u201990s, in the \u201900s, and in the \u201910s\u201d\u2014Skarsg\u00e5rd suggested that his home and work lives always went hand in hand.<\/p>\n

The actor said of the balance: \u201cI sort of made sure that I was at home a lot. You can\u2019t be a perfect father always. I mean, you gotta accept, and the kids have to accept, I\u2019m flawed. Good luck!\u201d<\/p>\n

The two-time Golden Globe award winner also mused that having such a big, young family may have helped him hone his craft.<\/p>\n

Skarsg\u00e5rd told the outlet: \u201cMaybe I couldn\u2019t have made 150 films if I hadn\u2019t have eight kids to learn from.<\/p>\n

\u201cI stole things from them. Like, expressions and the sort of naive attitude towards everything. Just watching them is fantastic.\u201d<\/p>\n

Skarsg\u00e5rd\u2019s career is showing no signs of slowing down. The actor won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor<\/a> this month for his role in Sentimental Value, which also won the Cannes Film Festival Grand Prix award. Skarsg\u00e5rd also starred in the new season of Disney+\u2019s highly regarded<\/a> television show Andor. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

However, the actor has admitted that he\u2019s dealt with lasting mental impacts from having suffered a stroke in 2022<\/a>. Skarsg\u00e5rd didn\u2019t take a break despite the health crisis and began filming Dune: Part Two with an earpiece through which an assistant could feed him his lines.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Vulture<\/a> last year, he admitted that his health presented a challenge. \u201cSuddenly, I can\u2019t come up with names,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t follow a thought or make an argument that spans several sentences that gets to the point\u2014that, then bang! That is extremely frustrating. But on the other hand, I\u2019m alive.
