A strong internet connection and some good old-fashioned detective work \u2014 plus a hand with a ring on it \u2014 were all this single lady needed to find the truth about her hot Hinge date\u2019s marital status.<\/p>\n

In two now viral Instagram videos, LA-based comedian Jasmine Pariani recently detailed <\/a>the time she was excited to match with a \u201cgorgeous man\u201d from England with a six-pack who \u201cloved to cook\u201d \u2014 only to find a photo of him wearing a wedding ring on a second scroll-through of his profile.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m like, wait, wait, wait \u2014 has he had a wedding ring on in all his pictures? Like, what\u2019s going on here?\u201d Pariani recalled, laughing. \u201cSo I start looking, I see a handful of his photos, and he\u2019s got a wedding ring on.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pariani told viewers that she \u201clove(s) a mystery\u201d and that she proceeded to go down a research rabbit-hole, easily locating his company directory as the would-be beaux listed his job on his Hinge profile. After finding his full name, she typed it into Google \u2014 only to find a registry on the wedding site The Knot for a vow renewal dated for the previous week.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m thinking, oh the trail, it\u2019s warm. It\u2019s a hot trail, baby!\u201d said Pariani.<\/p>\n

After pleading with her 10-year-old MacBook not to crash before she did \u201cone more search,\u201d Pariani sleuthed further, diving deep to find the man\u2019s wife\u2019s LinkedIn. There, she learned the woman had a job that would likely require her to be away for long stretches of time.<\/p>\n

In her follow-up video<\/a>, Pariani continued on with her modern-day anti-fairytale, sharing that she soon dug up her match\u2019s wedding registry, followed by his wife\u2019s Instagram profile. There, she noticed something a \u201clittle weird\u201d \u2014 that while Pariani\u2019s match followed his wife, she did not follow him back.<\/p>\n

Regardless, Pariani wanted to give the man\u2019s wife a warning of her husband\u2019s shady behavior and considered messaging her. But first, she brought the idea to her \u201ccouncil\u201d of friends \u2014 \u201cbecause sometimes, I can\u2019t be trusted to make my own decisions,\u201d she quipped.<\/p>\n

One friend advised Pariani not to message the wife just yet, suggesting that she bring up the issue with her match first as she didn\u2019t think they \u201cnecessarily had enough information to be DM\u2019ing his wife.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"AThe single sleuth went on to dig up her would-be date\u2019s wedding registry and his wife\u2019s Instagram profile. \u201cIt\u2019s too easy to find information,\u201d Pariani said. Instagram\/thedoglord<\/p>\n

Taking her friend\u2019s advice, Pariani scheduled a FaceTime call with her potentially married match. As soon as the man\u2019s video appeared, Pariani scanned his background, searching for any signs of a woman\u2019s aesthetic touch \u2014 but found none.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Potentially sensing a vibe shift, Pariani\u2019s match came right out and said that he was \u201cgoing through a divorce\u201d and it was \u201cnot finalized.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m like, you know what? That makes sense. Because the vow renewal that I found \u2014 like The Knot website \u2014 it was a vow renewal. They\u2019d been married for like five years, so that\u2019s not a good sign.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, commenters seemed to disagree in general, with one posting, \u201cWhy would you get a renewal ONE WEEK ago while you are getting divorced?\u201d<\/p>\n

Another commented, \u201cTell the wife\u2026I wouldn\u2019t trust him.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Pariani seemed to entertain the man\u2019s alleged explanation, she did have some thoughts on just how easy it is to find people\u2019s personal info on the internet.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2019What I will say is this. When I was Nancy Drew-ing\u2026 I found a short film this guy was in from 2016! What I\u2019m trying to say is, it\u2019s too easy to find information,\u201d Pariani said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve got to be f-ing careful with how much information you\u2019re giving to strangers on the internet,\u201d she continued. \u201cBecause there\u2019s people like me who love to find out information for fun!\u201d<\/p>\n
