Defense Dominos

BREAKING NEWS>>>KEIFER SHERWOOD TRADED TO SHARKS FOR TWO SECONDS AND COLE CLAYTON

The Domino Effect Begins: Four Defensemen, Four Teams After the Andersson Trade

Once the Calgary Flames moved **Rasmus Andersson** yesterday, the defense market officially shifted into its next phase.

Andersson was the top blue-liner available at the deadline….a right-shot defender capable of logging heavy minutes in all situations. His departure didn’t just satisfy Vegas; it forced every team still hunting help on the back end to re-evaluate their boards. When the best option comes off the market, the dominoes behind him start to wobble…

According to my sources, the next wave of defensemen drawing serious attention includes Justin Faulk, Dougie Hamilton, Morgan Rielly and Mario Ferraro…. Meanwhile, the teams most consistently linked to blue-line upgrades are Detroit, Dallas, Carolina and Boston…

Here’s how those pieces could line up as the market tightens.

Justin Faulk: Built for a Team Trying to Win Now

Faulk is the kind of defenseman contenders gravitate toward this time of year. He’s experienced, right-shot, playoff-tested, and capable of playing both special teams.

Dallas makes a lot of sense here. The Stars are in full win-now mode and have been quietly looking to add another veteran presence to a deep but occasionally inconsistent blue line. Faulk wouldn’t need to be “the guy”…. just a reliable, hard-minute defender who can support a long playoff run.

Detroit is another intriguing fit. The Wings continue to value structure, experience, and defensive responsibility. Faulk’s ability to play within a system and handle pressure minutes would be attractive for a team thatappears ready for a playoff run

Dougie Hamilton: The High-End Swing

Hamilton may be the most talented name left on the board….and also the most complicated

At his best, he’s a true top-pair defenseman who can drive offense, quarterback a power play, and tilt the ice. But his contract and injury history make this a big-game hunt rather than a depth add.

Carolina looms large here. The Hurricanes know Hamilton well, and his skill set aligns perfectly with their aggressive, possession-heavy style. If New Jersey decides to listen seriously, Carolina would be among the first calls made.

Detroit is the wild card. Steve Yzerman has the cap flexibility and prospect depth to make a bold move if he believes Hamilton pushes the Red Wings from playoff hopeful to legitimate threat. However in the past he hasn’t been wanting to take major risks like this would be.

Morgan Rielly: A Possible Franchise-Altering Piece

Rielly’s name in trade circles would have been unthinkable not long ago… but this is Toronto, and the cap math….

If the Maple Leafs decide to reshuffle their core, Rielly becomes the most impactful defenseman potentially available. He’s a left-shot, puck-moving defender who thrives when allowed to attack.

Dallas has been circling for a while. Rielly would instantly become the another piece to help get through Edmonton or Colorado,

Boston is another fascinating option. The Bruins’ system has long maximized mobile defensemen, and Rielly’s skating and transition game would fit seamlessly into their identity. Seriously I’m saying to myself, with Toronto trade him to Boston? I doubt it..

Mario Ferraro: The Underrated Glue Piece

Ferraro doesn’t generate the same headlines, but he might be the most realistic acquisition of the group.

He’s physical, competitive, durable, and comfortable playing tough defensive minutes. For teams looking to solidify their structure rather than swing for the fences, Ferraro is a highly appealing target.

Boston and Carolina values exactly this type of defender — someone who can play fast, defend hard, and keep the game simple. Ferraro would slide naturally into their system.

Predicting/Educated Guessing?

This is something I rarely do but since I do it on the rumor tried so I’m gonna do it here..and give you my predictions based on what I’ve heard so far. Of course this could change with a phone call at any point and at that point I will update the rumor chart and you will see to see where I’m guessing these guys to go next

Justin Faulk → Detroit

Dougie Hamilton→ Carolina (yes, again)

Morgan Rielly → Dallas… But I know this talk is still alive between Edmonton and Toronto about this….

Mario Ferraro→ **Boston Bruins**

Now to the act you’ve all been waiting for….

The updated rumor chart with five new players added…

BREAKING NEWS>>>KEIFER SHERWOOD TRADED TO SHARKS FOR TWO SECONDS AND COLE CLAYTON The Domino Effect Begins: Four Defensemen,…

[66
51735,831,385,57292,99
0":"post-418685","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-nhl","8":"tag-eklund","9":"tag-featured","10":"tag-nhl","11":"tag-nhl-rumors","12":"tag-sports
["GET
