After some rough waters, writer-director Tommy Wirkola\u2018s (Dead Snow, Violent Night) shark thriller is swimming to Netflix this year.<\/p>\n

First announced as Beneath the Storm, the film was originally set for a theatrical release on August 1 from Sony. It was then bumped up to July 3 with the new title Shiver.<\/p>\n

Now untitled \u2014 likely due to Tim Miller\u2019s time loop shark thriller also called Shiver<\/a> \u2014 Wirkola\u2019s film has been removed from Sony\u2019s theatrical release calendar.<\/p>\n

Deadline<\/a> has learned that it will instead head to Netflix, who has a first-look deal with Sony for the studio\u2019s direct-to-streaming titles.<\/p>\n

Plot details remain under wraps, but the movie stars Phoebe Dynevor (\u201cBridgerton\u201d), Whitney Peak (Hocus Pocus 2), and Djimon Hounsou (A Quiet Place: Part II).<\/p>\n

Wirkola produces alongside HyperObject Industries\u2019 Adam McKay and Kevin Messick.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe couldn\u2019t be more excited to be back in business with all our friends at Netflix on this film,\u201d said McKay. \u201cWe had a great experience together on Don\u2019t Look Up and look forward to working with them to make this an event streaming release in 2026.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wirkola also has Violent Night 2<\/a> due out on December 4, along with the adult animated comedy Spermageddon<\/a> on the way.<\/p>\n
