\u201cWe have to come back – the results since 2025 is not good, in terms of the Premier League and now today,\u201d said City\u2019s head coach. \u201cBut we go forward, Wolves and then Galatasaray. We have the feeling everything is going wrong, the details, but we have to try and change that.<\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t think he\u2019d go there but he\u2019s really apportioning quite a lot of the blame for this defeat at the hands of Bodo\/Glimt to the absence of several players. They were outstanding against a Manchester City<\/a> side who were little short of dismal.<\/p>\n A quick recap: Kasper Hogh scored twice in three minutes to send Bodo\/Glimt on their way, while Jens Hauge scored the pick of the goals with an unstoppable shot from distance. City\u2019s consolation came from Rayan Cherki before Rodri was sent off for picking up two yellow cards in under a minute. It was an excellent performance by the Norwegian side, who were well worth their victory and could coneivably have won by more. They\u2019ve scored three goals, had two ruled out for offside and also hit the bar. Their fans will certainly be hitting the bar later, to celebrate a win that will send shockwaves around the world.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 90+3 min: Cherki jinks this way and that as he takes on the Bodo\/Glimt left-back. With a minimum of fuss, Fredrik Bjorkan stands his ground and steals possession of the ball. Excellent defending.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 90+1 min: Donnarumma is quick off his line to deny Helmersen as Bodo\/Glimt sweep forward in numbers again. The substitute tried to lift the ball over the Italian, who did well to deny him.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 89 min: Tijani Reijnders runs on to a through ball to the byline but sends it out of play with a diabolical first touch. It\u2019s been that sort of night for Manchester CIty, who are staring down the barrel of a far more embarrassing humiliation than they one they were forced to endure at Old Trafford on Saturday. And that was bad.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 87 min: Cherki stands the ball up after making his way to the byline. His delivery is perfectly placed for Nico O\u2019Reilly, who heads the ball straight into the arms of Nikita Haikin, who almost certainly can\u2019t believe his luck.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 86 min: Bodo\/Glimt break forward again and have a three-on-two again but Helmersen needlessly strays offside and the flag goes up.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 84 min: The 10 men of City keep plugging way but look to be going through the motions with the air about them of men who know they are beaten. However, if they can get a goal in the next couple of minutes, who knows what could happen?<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 82 min: Another Bodo\/Glimt substitution with Maatta on for Sondre Fet, another midfielder who has put in an excellent shift for a team who, to a man, have been outstanding.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 78 min: Rayan Ait-Nouri is clearly kicked by Hauge in the Bodo\/Glimt box. It should be a penalty but City aren\u2019t given one.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 77 min: Bodo\/Glimt triple-substitution: Andreas Helmersen, Sondre Auklend and Ulrik Saltnes are on for Blomberg, Hogh and Evjen, who have all been brilliant.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 76 min: City break upfield from a corner and win one of their own after good work from Omar Marmoush, who is on for Phil Foden.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 73 min: Bodo\/Glimt right-back Fredrik Sjovold wants in on the scoring occasion and makes an underlapping sprint upfield before running on a to a pass and having his shot from a narrow angle blocked by Rico Lewis.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 71 min: Nico O\u2019Reilly tries to curl a long ball from deep towards Haaland but it\u2019s expertly intercepted by Bjortuft, who heads the ball away.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 68 min: Bodo\/Glimt have been phenomenal tonight, working their socks off when out of possession and breaking at lightning speed whenever they have the ball. Every time they get on the ball they look like scoring.<\/p>\n A case in point: In all the recent excitement I didn\u2019t actually get around to mentioning a fourth \u201cgoal\u201d they had ruled out when Hogh thought he\u2019d completed his hat-trick but had his effort from close range at the far post correctly ruled out for offside.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 66 min: There were 58 seconds between Rodri\u2019s first yellow card for a trip on Hakon Evjen and his second for that tug on Blomberg. He could have no complaints about either but that didn\u2019t stop either him or Pep Guardiola moaning at great length about what they perceived to be the injustice of it all.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 63 min: Bodo\/Glimt go close to scoring a fourth! Hauge curls a purler towards the top corner from distance that rattles the crossbar. This match is bonkers!<\/p>\n Share<\/a>Red card! You don\u2019t expect that kind of generosity from as striker who is on a hat-trick.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 52 min: Bodo\/Glimt scythe through the City defence again and Berg plays a ball over the top for Hogh to chase. He collects and passes a couple of metres inside to Hakpon Evjen, who lifts the ball over Donnarumma and into the back of the net. Offside but it takes a long VAR check to make sure. City are an absolute shambles at the back.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 50 min: Bodo\/Glimt attempt another smash-and-grab on the counter, with Hauge picking out Patrick Berg with a cross from the left. The midfielder\u2019s first touch is excellent and his shot from a narrow angle is saved by Donnarumma\u2019s outstretched leg.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 49 min: Having had just eight touches of the ball in the first half, Erling Haaland is flapping his arms in frustration, appealing to his teammates to help him add to that tally.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 47 min: A crossfield pass by Rodri is intercepted and Bodo\/Glimt try to play Hogh through on goal with a low, long pass along the deck that\u2019s intercepted.<\/p>\n Share<\/a>Bodo\/Glimt 0-2 Manchester City<\/p>\n 46 min: Play resumes with City on the ball and seriously needing to up their game to avoid further embarrassment. There are on changes in personnel on either side.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n Well now. While fans of Bodo\/Glimt may beg to differ, for some reason this scoreline doesn\u2019t feel quite as seismic as it almost certainly should. We know they\u2019re a decent team who have an excellent coach in Kjetil Knutson and the quite literally Arctic conditions in which they play do give them an advantage. Even so, they ought to have no business whatsoever leading against a team like Manchester City<\/a> 2-0 at the break.<\/p>\n CIty\u2019s defending has been abysmal and there\u2019s plenty of blame to go around, but Max Alleyne made mistakes in the build-up to both goals, while Rayan Ait-Nouri was equally culpable for the third. On both occasions, Bodo\/Glimt\u2019s attackers outnumbered City\u2019s defenders, who were undone by simple balls over the top. Instead of shooting, he cuts inside and tees up Hogh, whose shot on this occasion curls harmlessly wide. City have dodged another big bullet.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n 36 min: Ait-Nouri, Lewis and Cherki combine down the right but the young Mancunian loses the ball and Bodo\/Glimt are back in possession.
