{"id":421337,"date":"2026-01-21T19:01:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-21T19:01:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/421337\/"},"modified":"2026-01-21T19:01:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-21T19:01:10","slug":"dustin-johnson-has-blunt-verdict-on-brooks-koepkas-liv-exit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/421337\/","title":{"rendered":"Dustin Johnson has blunt verdict on Brooks Koepka&#8217;s LIV exit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\tThe former world No.1 had a blunt response when asked about on Brooks Koepka\u2019s return, while Bryson DeChambeau\u2019s future and LIV\u2019s failure to secure world ranking points were also on the agenda\u2026<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s fair to assume Dustin Johnson does not share an ounce of Brooks Koepka\u2019s buyer\u2019s remorse. <\/p>\n<p>While Koepka stunned the game by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.todays-golfer.com\/news-and-events\/tour-news\/brooks-koepka-quits-liv-golf\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">walking out on his LIV Golf contract<\/a> a year early and making an instant return to the PGA Tour, Johnson wants to remain on the rival league for the rest of his career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t see me going anywhere else,\u201d the former world No.1 told TG and a handful of other reporters here at the <a href=\"https:\/\/dubaidesertclassic.com\/home\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hero Dubai Desert Classic<\/a>, where he is starting his 2026 season in earnest. <\/p>\n<p>Johnson has just agreed a three-contract extension as the captain of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.todays-golfer.com\/news-and-events\/tour-news\/2026-liv-golf-teams\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">his 4Aces team<\/a> on LIV and says he\u2019s open to supplementing his schedule with more DP World Tour events in the future.<\/p>\n<p>In an intriguing chat on the practice range at the Emirates Club, Johnson weighed in on topics including Koepka\u2019s exit, Bryson DeChambeau\u2019s future, teammate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.todays-golfer.com\/news-and-events\/tour-news\/patrick-reed-hints-at-liv-golf-exit-for-pga-tour-return\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Patrick Reed\u2019s shock admission<\/a>, and LIV\u2019s ongoing pursuit of world ranking points.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what DJ had to say on\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2026Brooks Koepka\u2019s LIV exit<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLook, Brooks is doing whatever he thinks is best for him.\u00a0I haven\u2019t really talked to him that much \u2013 seen him back home at practice, we played a little bit.\u00a0Just haven\u2019t talked about why or what he did it for.\u00a0I can\u2019t really comment on him.\u00a0You\u2019d have to ask him that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t really care one way or the other. Brooks can do whatever he thinks is best.\u00a0Whether he plays on LIV or anywhere else, happy for him.\u00a0Doesn\u2019t matter.\u00a0Doesn\u2019t hurt us or not hurt us, I don\u2019t think.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2026Bryson DeChambeau\u2019s LIV future<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBryson obviously brings big crowds and he\u2019s got a lot of fans.\u00a0I can\u2019t speak for him. I don\u2019t see him going anywhere.\u00a0I think he\u2019s happy and he really likes LIV.\u00a0But you need to talk to him on that one.\u00a0As far as I know, he\u2019s very happy, and he\u2019s really enjoying playing on LIV.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"876\" height=\"584\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/bryson-dechambeau-leave-liv-golf.jpg\" alt=\"Will Bryson DeChambeau be the next star to leave LIV Golf?\" class=\"wp-image-280607\"  \/>\u2026Patrick Reed suggesting he would be open to a PGA Tour return <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m happy playing right where I\u2019m at.\u00a0Would I play a couple events on tour?\u00a0Sure, there\u2019s few events I that I like.\u00a0But I like playing LIV and I like playing around the world and I\u2019m very happy playing right where I\u2019m at.\u00a0It\u2019s only getting better.\u00a0We\u2019re going to continue to grow, and the fields keep getting better, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2026whether LIV need to make a statement signing soon<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know.\u00a0I think we have a really good quality of field.\u00a0It\u2019s only getting better.\u00a0You\u2019ve got a few of the young guys that they signed, Tom [McKibbin], Caleb [Surratt], there\u2019s a couple other really good players. They are really good, young players and been very successful. Obviously those were good signings.\u00a0They are great players and they are going to be great for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2026LIV potentially getting world ranking points<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s obviously definitely going to be big, which, more my opinion, we should have already had them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut it\u2019s looking like we\u2019ll get them this year, starting for the first event, hopefully. I don\u2019t know,\u00a0I don\u2019t sit on the board of the world rankings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHopefully we do get them just because they don\u2019t really reflect the actual standings of golf right now, with how Jon Rahm and Tyrrell [Hatton] and Joaquin [Niemann] and Bryson [DeChambeau]. Myself, I\u2019m like a thousand, I don\u2019t even know (he\u2019s 639th) [but] with my play over the last little while, I would say [I\u2019m] 40, 45. I haven\u2019t played up to my standards.
