\u201cIn the military, there\u2019s a lot of reinventing the wheel, needing to be creative to get projects completed and get things to happen, especially for patients, especially overseas,\u201d Dr. Samantha Mikals said. \u201cAnd I think that for me, as more of the creative artist part of our duo, I\u2019m good at pivoting, thinking on my feet, making up new solutions, innovating, and then making the decision and just going.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dr. Kyle Mikals said the structure and discipline of the military taught him how to build clear systems \u2014 something he believes is essential as they build and grow their practice.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo I learned a lot about making policies and procedures in the military. It\u2019s a big thing, especially since we move around from place to place,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen you\u2019re there for three years at a time, I was really good at making policies in terms of how the clinics were operating. That way, we had a nice standardized procedure in place.\u201d<\/p>\n
Building community trust<\/p>\n
As veteran entrepreneurs, the Mikalses say building trust and meeting patients where they are is central to their approach.<\/p>\n
Their practice combines internal medicine, lifestyle medicine, ENT care and facial aesthetics \u2014 and they say patient education is part of the mission.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs I\u2019m establishing myself in the community, people are finding out and hearing about it. I also just like to give advice \u2014 you know, especially skin care,\u201d Dr. Samantha Mikals said. \u201cI meet a lot of women and a lot of people don\u2019t know what the basics are to have nice, healthy skin, which is the cheapest step one before you do any of the other treatments.\u201d<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, the Mikalses say they hope to expand \u2014 potentially adding more doctors and moving into a dedicated clinic space \u2014 while maintaining the personalized, patient-focused care they say reflects their commitment to service.<\/p>\n
