Taiwan&#8217;s Compal, a contract manufacturer \u200bfor notebook and personal computers, said surging memory prices would continue \u200cinto 2027 and have a significant impact on the industry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">The company said it expected global notebook \u200cand personal computer shipments to fall by a low-single-digit percentage in 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">\u201cWe believe the total market will be impacted for sure,\u201d Chief Executive Officer Anthony Peter Bonadero said, adding Compal&#8217;s own notebook and PC business was expected to \u2060be flat or see slight \u200cgrowth, supported by its customer mix.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">&#8220;It&#8217;s a true super cycle (in memory chips) that we haven&#8217;t really seen,&#8221; said Bonadero.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">The \u200dworld&#8217;s top three memory chip producers &#8211; Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix and Micron &#8211; have said in recent months that they are struggling to keep up with demand, as a \u200bboom in <a href=\"https:\/\/tech.yahoo.com\/ai\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:artificial intelligence;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">artificial intelligence<\/a> data center rollouts has tightened supply of memory \u200cchips.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">&#8220;We expect to see more of what we saw towards the end of &#8217;25 with pricing volatility in the memory space, with the big three memory manufacturers prioritizing AI server high-bandwidth-memory (HBM),&#8221;
