{"id":4232,"date":"2025-07-12T12:33:05","date_gmt":"2025-07-12T12:33:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/4232\/"},"modified":"2025-07-12T12:33:05","modified_gmt":"2025-07-12T12:33:05","slug":"siptu-members-welcome-new-minimum-rates-of-pay-in-the-security-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/4232\/","title":{"rendered":"SIPTU members welcome new minimum rates of pay in the security industry\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"xmsonormal\">SIPTU members employed in the security industry have welcomed the Government\u2019s announcement that a new Employment Regulation Order (ERO) for the sector will come into force on 22nd July which will increase minimum hourly rates of pay.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\">\u00a0SIPTU Security Sector Organiser, Ed Kenny, said: \u201cThis new ERO will see the basic pay for a worker rise from \u20ac14.50 to \u20ac15.41 per hour. It also sets out basic terms and conditions for workers in the sector.<\/p>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\">\u201cWhile our members welcome these increases the implementation of this new ERO was delayed for several months. This was during a cost-of-living crisis that disproportionately affected workers in the security industry because of their low rates of pay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\">He added: \u201cWe will now seek to engage with employers on a successor to this ERO through the Joint Labour Committee for the industry. Our aim is to ensure that this will go further in ensuring these workers are paid proportionately to the vital services they provide.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"xmsonormal\">Security Officer and Senior SIPTU Activist, Christy Waters,\u00a0said:\u00a0\u201cWorkers in this industry have undergone significant professionalisation in recent years which requires them to have training and qualification requirements.
