Manchester United have had a very quiet January transfer window so far, but Fabrizio Romano still thinks a deal could happen before the deadline on February 1st.<\/p>\n

While it would be beneficial in securing Champions League football, the prospects of Manchester United<\/a> investing in a new midfielder this month look slim, with the club\u2019s top targets simply not available.<\/p>\n

United are unwilling to compromise on the three targets<\/a>, being Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba, and Elliot Anderson. So signing a player the club doesn\u2019t particularly want, with just 16 games between now and June, makes little sense<\/p>\n

However, there are more budget-friendly options for United to potentially just provide depth over the next four months and give Michael Carrick<\/a> the best chance of achieving his goals.<\/p>\n

Now, it has emerged that one possible signing has already been offered to Ineos<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Wilfried Ndidi has been offered to Manchester United<\/p>\n

This month, the midfield options being mentioned around United have been largely underwhelming. <\/p>\n

They have ranged from United having an interest in Ruben Loftus-Cheek<\/a> to Ruben Neves, and now another former Premier League midfielder, in the form of Wilfried Ndidi, has been mentioned by Fabrizio Romano.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the Fabrizio Romano YouTube<\/a> channel, the journalist explained that Ndidi is ready and willing to join United, despite not being approached yet.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne player that\u2019s been offered to Manchester United is Wilfried Ndidi, former Leicester City midfielder now playing in Turkey who\u2019s been offered to Manchester United as an opportunity for this January transfer window for the midfield.<\/p>\n

\u201cOffered in the sense that the player would be keen on returning to Premier League. Manchester United are aware of this chance, but at the moment, Manchester United have not made any bid or any proposal.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe player is ready in terms of contract side, even to accept eventually what it could take to go back to Premier League obviously at an important level. <\/p>\n

\u201cSo let\u2019s see what\u2019s going to happen in this kind of conversation because at the moment the player has been offered to United as of today, on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cStill Man United not making any sort of progress in the sense of advancing in conversations to sign the player or send an official bid. Man United didn\u2019t do anything at this stage, but Ndidi is offering himself.\u201d<\/p>\n

Strengthening in midfield this summer will be vital, now that Casemiro has confirmed his exit<\/a>, but the need in January is much less substantial.<\/p>\n

Manchester United need to avoid signing Ndidi <\/p>\n

There was a time when Ndidi was exactly what United needed, but in 2026, we struggle to see how or why Ineos would make this move, which likely explains why the move has not happened yet.<\/p>\n

With United having just 16 games left this season, there isn\u2019t a great need for depth, especially when there are a handful of midfielders in the academy more than good enough to play their part.<\/p>\n

Ruud van Nistelrooy labelled Ndidi a \u2018complete player\u2019<\/a> last season, but he has since moved to Besiktas in Turkey, and if they are willing to let him leave on loan, United are better off without.<\/p>\n

It would be an unnecessary addition, costing wages and likely taking a bench spot from an academy player. <\/p>\n

So United should steer clear.<\/p>\n
