NEW YORK (January 21, 2026) \u2013 Holland
\n& Knight represented Mitsubishi Corporation (Americas), a
\nwholly owned U.S. subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation, on an
\nadditional investment in Starlab Space LLC, a global joint venture
\nand leading candidate for participation in NASA’s Commercial
\nSpace Station Program. As part of this investment, Mitsubishi has
\nalso acquired the usage rights to the experimental module
\nassociated with Starlab’s commercial space station. The
\ntransaction was announced on January 12.<\/p>\n

The Commercial Space Station Program is being developed by U.S.
\nprivate companies, under NASA’s leadership, as the successor to
\nthe International Space Station, which is expected to be retired in
\nthe 2030s. Starlab is one of three companies selected from a pool
\nof 11 applicants in a competitive bid conducted in 2021 under this
\nprogram. As of February 2025, it had successfully completed all
\nreviews for the four major development milestones set by NASA.<\/p>\n

With this additional investment, Mitsubishi has joined
\nStarlab’s board of directors, and by acquiring usage rights for
\nthe space station’s experimental module from Starlab,
\nMitsubishi will continue to advance the development and expansion
\nof space station research across various applications, such as
\nsemiconductors and life sciences.<\/p>\n
