{"id":424848,"date":"2026-01-23T11:03:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-23T11:03:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/424848\/"},"modified":"2026-01-23T11:03:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-23T11:03:09","slug":"amazon-to-cut-14000-corporate-jobs-in-second-round-of-layoffs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/424848\/","title":{"rendered":"Amazon to Cut 14,000 Corporate Jobs in Second Round of Layoffs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aboutamazon.com\/about-us\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Amazon<\/a> reportedly plans to start laying off about 14,000 corporate workers as soon as Tuesday (Jan. 27).<\/p>\n<p>These cuts will be part of the second round of a broader plan to eliminate 30,000 corporate jobs, and they will follow the first round that involved 14,000 layoffs in October, Reuters <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/exclusive-amazon-plans-thousands-more-214401937.html?guccounter=1&amp;guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&amp;guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAF8lgpFDzWdXxFqLKccfjf1qZ3yOiD2yNsMzvKybBxg2YfxRCAlDn9BBPRhi_3L6E5iQoKRzUDL6mB2PwNTRyAQ00yTCzuEyaIrPCiEPcgn8GD_9V1WRqOfML5TqrUD6kv4LkOBkOaM4XtJj_gDh-p0NefKBXGRX-fTVp4kVnfdx\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> Thursday (Jan. 22), citing unnamed sources.<\/p>\n<p>The latest round is likely to impact four Amazon business units: Amazon Web Services, retail, Prime Video, and People Experience and Technology, which is the firm\u2019s human resources division, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>The full scope of the layoffs is not known, and the plans could change, per the report.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon did not immediately reply to PYMNTS\u2019 request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Reuters report, the 30,000 jobs that Amazon plans to cut under this plan would amount to only a small portion of the company\u2019s 1.58 million employees but 10% of its corporate workforce. It would also follow Amazon\u2019s elimination of 27,000 jobs in 2022.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\">Advertisement: Scroll to Continue<\/p>\n<p>It was reported in October, just before the first round of the latest wave of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/amazon\/2025\/amazon-to-cut-30000-corporate-jobs-amid-drive-to-decrease-bureaucracy\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">layoffs<\/a>, that Amazon planned to cut as many as 30,000 corporate jobs as part of an effort to reduce the amount of bureaucracy and the number of managers at the company.<\/p>\n<p>About a year earlier, in September 2024, Amazon CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/andy-jassy-8b1615\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Andy Jassy<\/a> said that the company planned to reduce the number of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/amazon\/2024\/amazon-plans-to-have-fewer-managers-more-days-in-office\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">managers<\/a> in each of its organizations and to \u201coperate like the world\u2019s largest startup.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we do this well, it will increase our teammates\u2019 ability to move fast, clarify and invigorate their sense of ownership, drive decision-making closer to the front lines where it most impacts customers (and the business), decrease bureaucracy, and strengthen our organizations\u2019 ability to make customers\u2019 lives better and easier every day,\u201d Jassy wrote at the time in a message shared with the company\u2019s employees and posted online.<\/p>\n<p>When the company began its earlier series of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/amazon\/2022\/amazons-jassy-says-layoffs-to-stretch-into-23\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">layoffs<\/a> in November 2022, Jassy said Amazon had hired rapidly over the previous several years and was looking at workforce levels.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon plans to report its fourth quarter 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/press.aboutamazon.com\/2026\/1\/amazon-com-to-webcast-fourth-quarter-2025-financial-results-conference-call\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">financial results<\/a> on Feb. 5.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Amazon reportedly plans to start laying off about 14,000 corporate workers as soon as Tuesday (Jan. 27).
