Tommy Paul is back into the fourth round of the Australian Open.<\/p>\n

The world number 20 led Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-1, 6-1, when the Spaniard retired from the match.<\/p>\n

Paul will now prepare to face another Spaniard, Carlos Alcaraz, in the fourth round.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a good tournament for the Americans down under, and Paul is one of several players still in the draw.<\/p>\n

He will be joined by his countryman, Learner Tien, in the last-16, who defeated Nuno Borges in the third round.<\/p>\n

During his latest press conference, Paul was asked to share his thoughts on Tien.<\/p>\n

Tommy Paul says Learner Tien is a \u2018tricky player\u2019 and praises his mindset<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m super impressed with Learner [Tien],\u201d said Paul.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s obviously been putting up some really good results. He\u2019s climbing up the rankings really fast.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a tricky player and does not miss much at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know that we even ever practiced together.<\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t watched a ton of him until the past, like, six months or so. I\u2019ve really enjoyed watching him. He\u2019s got a good team around him. He\u2019s got a really good mindset.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a great kid. I\u2019m happy for his success. I\u2019m sure he\u2019s going to have a lot more of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tien enjoyed a breakout tournament at the Australian Open 12 months ago, knocking out Daniil Medvedev on his way to the fourth round.<\/p>\n

At the beginning of last year\u2019s tournament, Tien was ranked 121st in the world, but he has since broken into the world\u2019s top 32 (29th).<\/p>\n

Interestingly enough, Tien will play Medvedev again at this year\u2019s Australian Open, in the fourth round.<\/p>\n

Tien and Medvedev will face off on Sunday, January 25 with a place in the quarterfinals up for grabs.<\/p>\n

Tommy Paul claims another American player is exciting to watch<\/p>\n

Tien isn\u2019t the only American youngster who\u2019s impressed in Melbourne.<\/p>\n

21-year-old Ethan Quinn has upset Tallon Griekspoor and Hubert Hurkacz, qualifying for the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career.<\/p>\n

Paul also took the time to share his thoughts on Quinn.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, those two wins that he\u2019s had so far are undeniably great wins. To do them back-to-back is unreal,\u201d said Paul.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he\u2019s playing amazing tennis. He\u2019s gaining confidence. He\u2019s going to be one of those guys that you don\u2019t want to draw early in tournaments.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s got two big weapons with his serve and his forehand. He plays, as my coach would say, traditional American tennis.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, he\u2019s exciting to watch. I\u2019ve been watching all of his matches. I\u2019m really pumped for him.\u201d<\/p>\n
