Portal recruiting hasn\u2019t stopped with the closure of the winter window, as the Texas Longhorns hosted Georgia Bulldogs transfer offensive lineman Jamal Meriweather on Friday and landed a signature from the former conference rival.<\/p>\n
The 6\u20197, 305-pounder has two seasons of eligibility remaining.<\/p>\n
An in-state product from Brunswick, Meriweather made an early pledge to UCF before receiving an offer from Georgia and flipping to the Bulldogs late in the 2023 recruiting cycle before signing in February. Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa State, Kentucky, Michigan State, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Missouri, Tennessee, USC, Utah, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia were among the other offers for the consensus three-star prospect who was ranked as the No. 481 player nationally and the No. 31 offensive tackle, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.<\/p>\n
Meriweather did not appear in a game while redshirting during the 2023 season before playing 10 snaps at left guard over three appearances in 2024. Last season, Meriweather played both guard positions as a backup, playing 40 snaps over six games and grading out as a below-average run blocker.<\/p>\n
