Hendrix Lapierre<\/a> did the unthinkable on Friday. He scored a goal in an NHL hockey game.<\/p>\n

After finding a puck at his feet, Lapierre sent a shot from the side of the net past Flames goaltender Devin Cooley<\/a>, ending his unfathomable goalless streak at 90 games. <\/p>\n

\u201cSCORE!! HENDRIX! LAPIERRE! And he gets King Kong off his back!\u201d yelled Monumental Sports Network\u2019s Joe Beninati in one of his best calls of the season.<\/p>\n

Naturally, Lapierre\u2019s teammates celebrated with him along the boards as if they had just won the Stanley Cup.<\/p>\n

The bench was also very excited.<\/p>\n

When asked by Al Koken during the second intermission who was more pumped about his goal, Hendrix replied, \u201cI think my teammates, honestly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve been talking about this for a little while now, and obviously you never wanna talk about individual stats and stuff like that,\u201d he added. \u201cBut it feels really good. So now we can just play hockey and get a big win here.\u201d<\/p>\n

The last time Lapierre lit the lamp was on March 18, 2024, against the Calgary Flames. He then went without a goal in the final 15 games of the 2023-24 season. He did not score in 27 appearances last year and had gone goalless in all 48 games this season before lighting the lamp against the Flames tonight. It was the longest active streak in the NHL.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been trying to get in the right areas all season,\u201d Lapierre said. \u201cIt\u2019s obviously fun to score, but it\u2019s fun to score a big one. It\u2019s a big game for us. Everyone knows that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lapierre now has two goals in two games against the Calgary Flames. Let\u2019s just play them every night for now on.<\/p>\n
