Despite early-season setbacks at Phoenix, Rockingham, and Talladega, Katherine Legge is now lighting up the track with stellar back-to-back performances. The British racing veteran has finally found her groove and is now up to speed, delivering commendable results in a stock car.<\/p>\n
During the chaotic Sunday feature at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Legge stole the spotlight with a gutsy final restart, muscling her way to a brilliant top 20 finish. In the process, she outgunned big-time contenders, including Shane van Gisbergen and Joe Gibbs Racing\u2019s trump card, Chase Briscoe, thus solidifying herself as a rising threat.<\/p>\n

In her part-time campaign, 45-year-old Legge is stringing a bold chapter in 2025. While 23XI Racing\u2019s Bubba Wallace redeemed himself with a stellar win at IMS, the British racer impressed the fandom with her strong showing.<\/p>\n
Legge has racked up two top 20 finishes out of her five Cup starts, in what many dub inadequate equipment from Live Fast Motorsports. But with the 45-year-old behind the wheel, the No. 78 LFM Chevrolet rose to its team\u2019s name and breathed fire<\/a>.<\/p>\n In Sunday\u2019s Indy feature, despite starting from the back (P38), she notched up a brilliant 17th-place finish. While the late race sequence saw some of the best drivers on the field fade out, Legge stayed locked in and fired on all cylinders, making the most out of the final restart.<\/p>\n During the final overtime restart, the Brit showed her mettle, getting past SVG, who initially overtook the No. 78 Chevy after Turn 2. But Legge persisted, running on the outside of the No. 88 WeatherTech Chevy, she inched her way up until he cleared SVG off Turn 4.<\/p>\n In fact, her determined charge even pushed JGR\u2019s Briscoe, who tried sneaking up on her,\u00a0 back to an eighteenth-place finish. In a somewhat tumultuous season, Legge improved her result at the Brickyard following a P19 finish at Chicago.<\/p>\n What makes her effort more impressive is that she did this while working with a developmental pit crew that delivered four-tire pit tops that average 16 seconds. Her Indy performance even earned praise from NASCAR legend Mark Martin.<\/p>\n
