Late-night host Bill Maher called New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani a \u201cstraight up communist\u201d and warned Democrats that they will \u201close more elections\u201d if they try to deny it.<\/p>\n

On Friday\u2019s episode of \u201cReal Time,\u201d Maher noted that \u201cDemocrats seem to be having this debate\u201d over whether Mamdani is a socialist or a democratic socialist, and offered to end the debate for them once and for all.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet me settle it: He\u2019s a straight-up communist,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n

According to Maher, he knows this to be true by \u201creading between the lines\u201d after one of the mayor\u2019s advisors, Cea Weaver, said to<\/a> \u201celect more communists.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhich is fine. It\u2019s fine. It\u2019s a belief system. He\u2019s allowed to believe it, and people are allowed to vote for it,\u201d Maher continued. \u201cBut if liberals deny it, like he\u2019s just going through a goth phase, they\u2019re going to lose more elections. This is not a communist country.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cReal Time\u201d host lamented that when it comes to political ideology, \u201cthe pendulum never lands in the middle,\u201d and voters are typically left to choose between two extremes.<\/p>\n

Maher said that he knows that Mamdani is a \u201cstraight up communist\u201d after one of his advisors, Cea Weaver, said to \u201celect more communists.\u201d FOX News<\/p>\n

\u201cReally, the choices we get here are either the worst version of crony capitalism or communism, either a side deal for the Trump family every time he does business overseas, or the lady who says, \u2018Impoverish the white middle class,\u2019\u201d he said. \u201cOh yeah, there\u2019s a great campaign slogan for you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fox News Digital reached out to Mamdani\u2019s office for comment but did not immediately hear back.<\/p>\n

The \u201cimpoverish the white middle class\u201d quote Maher referenced came from Weaver, who was named director of the Mayor\u2019s Office to Protect Tenants on Jan. 1 through an executive order signed by Mamdani.<\/p>\n

According to the Daily Mail, internet sleuths uncovered a trove of controversial tweets from Weaver\u2019s now-deleted X account, one in which she called to \u201cimpoverish the white middle class\u201d and brand homeownership as \u201cracist\u201d and \u201cfailed policy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Additionally, the housing czar called to \u201cseize private property\u201d and even claimed that<\/a> \u201chomeownership is a weapon of white supremacy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maher has been consistent in his criticisms of Mamdani and democratic socialism, urging both voters and Democratic Party leaders to steer clear of the ideology.<\/p>\n

In November, Maher tore into Mamdani and his ideology after his intense victory speech, warning Republicans would use it to their advantage.<\/p>\n

\u201cDemocrats must recognize that Zohran Mamdani is the future of the party. Unfortunately, it\u2019s the Republican Party. Get it?\u201d Maher joked. \u201cAnd if you missed his victory speech in last week\u2019s mayoral election in New York, don\u2019t worry. You\u2019ll see it in every attack ad for the next two years.\u201d<\/p>\n
