The National Weather Service issued an updated winter storm warning on Sunday for additional snow accumulations of between 4 and 8 inches in Central New York.<\/p>\n

Areas around Syracuse have had 6 to 8 inches of snow<\/a> as of 7 p.m., according to National Weather Service reports. <\/p>\n

The warning remains in effect until Monday at 7 p.m. for 17 counties across Central New York.<\/p>\n

Snowfall rates could exceed 2 inches per hour through Sunday evening before the snow tapers off. <\/p>\n

>> Many schools will be closed on Monday<\/a><\/p>\n

Temperatures will hover in the upper single digits to teens throughout the storm, with colder wind chills, according to the weather service.<\/p>\n

Winds gusting as high as 35 mph on Monday afternoon will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow, the weather service said. <\/p>\n

On Monday evening, lake effect snow showers are likely off Lake Ontario, bringing snow near the New York Thruway corridor.
