{"id":432288,"date":"2026-01-27T07:07:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-27T07:07:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/432288\/"},"modified":"2026-01-27T07:07:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-27T07:07:09","slug":"shedeur-sanders-reportedly-added-to-nfl-pro-bowl-roster-after-rookie-season-with-browns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/432288\/","title":{"rendered":"Shedeur Sanders Reportedly Added to NFL Pro Bowl Roster After Rookie Season with Browns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders has reportedly been named a Pro Bowl replacement, according to reporter <a class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-inherit MuiLink-root MuiLink-underlineAlways MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__ui__link__medium_strong css-lu48cp\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Schultz_Report\/status\/2015847691293745651\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Jordan Schultz<\/a>, ostensibly to replace Super Bowl-bound quarterback Drake Maye.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">The 23-year-old Sanders threw for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions as a rookie, going 3-4 in his starts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">Sanders is the first Browns quarterback to be named to the Pro Bowl since Derek Anderson in 2008. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">Monday&#8217;s report was met with about the response you&#8217;d expect:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">Here&#8217;s the reality\u2014unless about seven or eight other potential options turned down the replacement gig after Maye reached the Super Bowl, there is zero reason for Sanders to have been named a Pro Bowler.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">He had a <a class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-inherit MuiLink-root MuiLink-underlineAlways MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__ui__link__medium_strong css-lu48cp\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/stats\/player\/_\/season\/2025\/seasontype\/2\/players\/8\/table\/passing\/sort\/interceptions\/dir\/desc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">QBR<\/a> of 18.9 and a passer rating of 68.1. For context, his teammate and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel had a QBR of 31.5 and a passer rating of 80.8 across 10 appearances. Gabriel wasn&#8217;t great either, but his touchdown-to-interception ratio was 7-to-2, which sure looks better than what Sanders provided.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">Granted, Gabriel was dinking-and-dunking far more than Sanders, who actually took shots down the field, so the context matters. But there is no context in which Sanders is a worthy Pro Bowler outside of other alternatives turning down the opportunity, which is certainly a possibility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">This year&#8217;s Pro Bowl will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. ET.
