In a <a href=\"https:\/\/d18rn0p25nwr6d.cloudfront.net\/CIK-0001506293\/e9cba155-56df-4d74-a1a3-5f2506b33fb3.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">regulatory filing posted Tuesday<\/a>, Pinterest says the reduction is expected to impact \u201cless than 15 percent\u201d of its current workforce, and that the layoffs should be complete by September 30th, 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Pinterest said it had 4,666 full-time employees <a href=\"https:\/\/d18rn0p25nwr6d.cloudfront.net\/CIK-0001506293\/973659c6-d9a4-483b-a151-22b4a2a5bd9e.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">as of the end of 2024<\/a>, which would mean around 700 staffers are impacted by today\u2019s announcement. The document said these changes are to support three \u201ctransformation initiatives,\u201d with two of them connected to AI:<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Off the back of these changes, Pinterest is set to incur pre-tax restructuring charges of approximately $35 million to $45 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">\u201cWe are making organizational changes to further deliver on our AI-forward strategy, which includes hiring AI-proficient talent,\u201d Pinterest spokesperson Tessa Chen said in a statement to The Verge. \u201cAs a result, we\u2019ve made the difficult decision to say goodbye to some of our team members.
