The 18-year-old could be set to make the switch from KRC Genk before the end of the transfer window.<\/p>\n<p>Their interest in Onstein was revealed late last week, and now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sport.es\/es\/noticias\/barca\/principio-acuerdo-fichaje-juwansley-onstein-126109967\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sport<\/a> say that an agreement in principle has been reached to bring him to Camp Nou. On Monday morning he arrived in Barcelona and underwent a medical. His signature is expected imminently, and he will initially be part of the Barca Atletic side.<\/p>\n<p>AC Milan and Bayern Munich competing for Onstein<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1284\" height=\"855\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Juwensley-Onstein.jpg\" class=\"wp-image-328598 has-webp\" alt=\"Onstein is set to sign for Barcelona.\"   style=\"aspect-ratio:1284\/855;max-width:1284px\"\/>Image via Stan Oosterhof\/Soccrates\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Bayern Munich had also made a move for Onstein, while AC Milan were Barcelona\u2019s closest competition for the teenage defender. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.football-espana.net\/2026\/01\/23\/barcelona-close-to-signature-of-18-year-old-netherlands-youth-international\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Onstein had also reached an agreement with Milan<\/a>, and documents were exchanged with the Rossoneri, but the final green light did not arrive. Onstein prioritised a move to Barcelona, which has swung the balance.<\/p>\n<p>The Blaugrana scouts provided strong reports on Onstein\u2019s quality. Their plan is for him to adapt to life at Barca Atletic in the coming months, where he will have time to learn the language, immerse himself in the culture, and the club. Eric Garcia has become the most regular partner for Pau Cubarsi at the back, but Gerard Martin has also been called on to play beside Cubarsi.
