Adam Safwat, partner and co-chair of the firm’s White Collar
\nCrime & Government Investigations practice, recently spoke with
\nMPR News about three activists who had been charged with federal
\ncivil rights violations for disrupting a church service in St.
\nPaul. Safwat told MPR News that the government may find it
\nchallenging to prove that the activists entered Cities Church with
\nthe intent to deprive the parishioners of their First Amendment
\nright to exercise their faith.<\/p>\n

“Certainly they disrupted that,” Safwat said after
\nviewing video of the demonstration. “But there’s no
\nindication that they entered with the intent of terrifying them,
\ntrying to dissuade them from worshipping, trying to scatter them
\nfrom the church, trying to prevent them from entering the
\nchurch.”<\/p>\n
