The wait is over. The White Sox joined the 25 other major-league teams in having a jersey sponsor after Wednesday\u2019s announcement that they had reached a multiyear agreement with CME Group, a Chicago-based financial institution, as the team\u2019s inaugural jersey patch sponsor.<\/p>\n
\u201cThroughout this process, we understood the importance and significance of joining forces with a Chicago-based partner whose brand we would literally be sporting every day,\u201d White Sox chief revenue and marketing officer Brooks Boyer said in a statement. \u201cThe White Sox uniform designs represent so much to our organization, our fans and Chicago, and a bold partnership with CME Group\u2014a Chicago-born company with a global footprint\u2014was a perfect fit. Our organizations share a mentality that is built on ambition, pride and a strong work ethic, and this jersey patch is more than branding; it reinforces the power of Chicago, both here at home and around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Sox adding a jersey sponsor is significant in the amount of revenue it can generate for the organization. The league average for patches is around $8 million a year.<\/p>\n
CME Group will also have signage behind home plate at Rate Field, and the logo will be featured on the Sox\u2019 home, road and alternate jerseys for all spring training and regular-season games.<\/p>\n
