The New York Jets have not had a good go of things over the last few years. The Aaron Rodgers era was an unmitigated disaster that saw Rodgers contribute to all of five wins as the starting quarterback over two seasons.<\/p>\n

The Jets brought in Justin Fields to be the starting quarterback this season, but New York won only three games under first-year head coach Aaron Glenn. Glenn has responded by letting go of multiple members of his staff.<\/p>\n

On Monday, he parted ways with yet another assistant, according to one prominent insider.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe #Jets are parting ways with OC Tanner Engstrand, per me and (Tom Pelissero),\u201d reported NFL Network\u2019s Ian Rapoport on Tuesday.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Jets reached out to one legendary head coach to add to the staff, but the interest was reportedly unreciprocated.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe #Jets<\/a> reached out to Jon Gruden about the idea of joining Aaron Glenn\u2019s staff, according to multiple sources. Gruden wasn\u2019t interested in the job,\u201d Zack Rosenblatt reported on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Fans reacted to the news on social media.<\/p>\n

\u201cGruden turning it down is just as loud as the outreach itself. If this was a serious football opportunity, his lack of interest says a lot about how the league views the Jets internally,\u201d one fan wrote on Twitter.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think Gruden is going to be anyone\u2019s OC. He\u2019s a Super Bowl winning head coach. He\u2019s taking a head coaching job, or nothing. I know being a Jet fan is brutal right now, but this isn\u2019t a huge deal,\u201d someone else added.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust fire Glenn at this point and get it over with\u2026 unfortunately for him, no real talent will join a staff that the writings on the wall for in 2027,\u201d one fan added.<\/p>\n
