INDIANAPOLIS \u2014 Shayla Addison, 28, of Indianapolis, has been charged with two counts of Influencing a Federal Official by Threat.<\/p>\n
According to court documents, on January 15, 2025, beginning at approximately 8:53 a.m., Addison sent five text messages to the campaign phone number of Victim 1, a member of the United States House of Representatives. The messages included explicit threats to kill Victim 1, including statements such as \u201cCome outside b**** we\u2019ll kill you\u201d and \u201cTread lightly,\u201d among other variations.<\/p>\n
Minutes later, Addison sent additional messages to Victim 1\u2019s campaign email address, again threatening to kill Victim 1 and stating, \u201cWe will kill you and blow that whole building up b**** come outside.\u201d<\/p>\n
That same day, Addison also posted threatening comments on Victim 1\u2019s Instagram account, including: \u201cShut up h** I\u2019ll kill you\u201d and \u201cI hope you got mace\u2026 cause you gone need it.\u201d<\/p>\n
By sending the messages, Addison intended to retaliate against Victim 1 on account of Victim 1\u2019s performance of official duties.<\/p>\n
The FBI and United States Capitol Police investigated this case. Addison faces up to ten years in federal prison.<\/p>\n
