{"id":43592,"date":"2025-07-28T21:53:08","date_gmt":"2025-07-28T21:53:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/43592\/"},"modified":"2025-07-28T21:53:08","modified_gmt":"2025-07-28T21:53:08","slug":"insiders-slam-nascar-fans-questioning-value-of-brickyard-400-at-indianapolis-attendance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/43592\/","title":{"rendered":"Insiders slam NASCAR fans questioning value of Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis, attendance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two NASCAR insiders shared their thoughts on fans who dislike the racing at the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2O28S8SbM7w&amp;list=PLFUhDMhE1U5TN-kgZUZ9uAiO4fyVPcioS&amp;index=2&amp;t=1116s\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">On The Teardown podcast<\/a>, Jeff Gluck and Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic took on fans who said NASCAR drivers do not need to compete at Indy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was just gobsmacked by some of the people on X just going, \u2018Oh my gosh, they shouldn\u2019t race here. Oh, take this somewhere else.\u2019 I\u2019m like how new of fans are you that you don\u2019t know this is what the Brickyard is?\u201d Gluck asked. \u201cThat\u2019s crazy. The trade-off of racing here has always been this. This is the most prestigious oval on the planet. Period. This place is magical. This place is dripping with legacy and lore and just all the history. So that\u2019s why you come here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gluck also talked about fans complaining about the attendance at the Brickyard 400. \u201cWas the attendance 250,000? No,\u201d Gluck stated. \u201cYou know where you\u2019re getting 250,000 for a NASCAR race these days? Nowhere. You could put 250,000 seats at Daytona for the 500, and you\u2019re not getting it.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The Brickyard 400 provides an \u2018interesting storyline\u2019 each year<\/p>\n<p>Bianchi then weighed in on the attendance at the Brickyard 400. \u201cThis place is ginormous,\u201d he said. \u201cYou could put 100,000 people here. You spread everybody out, it\u2019s going to be like, \u2018Oh man, why is there empty sections?\u2019 It\u2019s just the way it is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to the racing at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Bianchi said, \u201cThe Brickyard was never great racing. It\u2019s never been that way. It\u2019s always been a track position-heavy race. There have been moments, of course.\u201d Bianchi later added that the Brickyard 400 is a \u201cstrategy-heavy race\u201d and \u201cyou really see different things play out.\u201d He also said, \u201cWhat we do have in this race, on a yearly basis, is an interesting storyline emerge with the race itself or the winner.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The storyline for the 2025 Brickyard 400 was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/pro\/news\/nascar-monday-mash-up-bubba-wallace-snaps-winless-streak-at-indianapolis\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bubba Wallace winning the race<\/a>.
