\n\tIce-T<\/a> recently told \u201cThe Breakfast Club\u201d (via Entertainment Weekly<\/a>) why he swapped the lyrics from his 1992 track \u201cCop Killer\u201d to \u201cICE Killer\u201d during a live performance. The Grammy winner explained that when he first did it during a Los Angeles show in July, it wasn\u2019t a premeditated change.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI have political things I think about,\u201d Ice-T said. \u201cNow when I did that, that didn\u2019t happen just recently. It happened when we played in L.A. at the Warped Tour. When I was there, ICE was active out there. So it\u2019s like, I\u2019m in the midst of ICE raids and stuff like that, and I\u2019m in front of an L.A. audience, and it just came out. I didn\u2019t know I was gonna do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe added, \u201cMy brain just said, \u2018Do \u201cICE Killer.\u201d\u2018 And it went over.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTensions with ICE have been at an all-time high in the U.S. following the killing of two American citizens at the hands of federal agents: Minnesota residents Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Ice-T maintained that whether he says \u201cCop Killer\u201d or \u201cICE Killer,\u201d the message is the same. He said of the song\u2019s purpose, \u201cI\u2019m just protesting.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think we\u2019re headed to some really ugly terrain,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd Black people really ain\u2019t got nothing to do with it. It\u2019s bad. I think the moment somebody shoots an ICE agent, it\u2019s gonna get bad.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDespite protesting with his music, Ice-T said the only ones who should have any authority on social issues are the people \u201cthat really carry it with them daily.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIf that\u2019s who you are. If it\u2019s not, don\u2019t do it for publicity.
