{"id":43906,"date":"2025-07-29T00:59:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-29T00:59:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/43906\/"},"modified":"2025-07-29T00:59:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-29T00:59:09","slug":"bianca-andreescu-joins-exclusive-club-among-tennis-legends-in-incredible-statistic-after-first-round-win-in-montreal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/43906\/","title":{"rendered":"Bianca Andreescu joins exclusive club among tennis legends in incredible statistic after first round win in Montreal"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Bianca Andreescu is through to the second round of the Canadian Open, where she will face the fourth seed, Mirra Andreeva. <\/p>\n<p>Andreescu defeated former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wimbledon\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wimbledon<\/a> champion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/Barbora-Krejcikova\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Barbora Krejcikova<\/a> in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, to advance in front of a home crowd in Montreal.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian suffered a nasty injury on match point against Krejcikova when she rolled her ankle, but two points later, she managed to wrap the contest up. <\/p>\n<p>Although her fitness is now in doubt ahead of the clash with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/mirra-andreeva\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Andreeva<\/a>, Andreescu has achieved a feat which ranks among some greats of the game.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"639\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-2226691642-1024x639.jpg\" alt=\"Bianca Andreescu in tears after injury scare at the Canadian Open.\" \/>Photo by Robert Prange\/Getty ImagesBianca Andreescu\u2019s incredible feat at the Canadian Open<\/p>\n<p>With her triumph over Krejcikova, Andreescu\u2019s winning percentage at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wta\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WTA<\/a> level against former Grand Slam champions is now 72%, which ranks second in the Open Era. <\/p>\n<p>With a record of 18-7, she trails only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/serena-williams\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Serena Williams<\/a>, who tallied 72.5% during her legendary career. <\/p>\n<p>Andreescu\u2019s total is higher than that of Margaret Court (70.3), Steffi Graf (68.6), and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/chris-evert\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chris Evert <\/a>(67.7).<\/p>\n<p>Her last win over a former major winner was at the Italian Open, where she defeated 2022 Wimbledon champion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/elena-rybakina\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Elena Rybakina<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Bianca Andreescu\u2019s reaction to her injury scare in Montreal<\/p>\n<p>In her press conference after the clash with Krejcikova, Andreescu said of her injury: \u201cIt\u2019s definitely unfortunate what happened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just have to wait to see tomorrow morning, basically, what the prognosis is, and then go from there.
