\n\tThe family is getting back together for the latest installment in the Fast & Furious<\/a> franchise.<\/p>\n

\n\tUniversal<\/a> announced Friday that the forthcoming sequel in the racing series is titled Fast Forever and set for theatrical release March 17, 2028. It follows the previous installment \u2014 director Louis Leterrier\u2019s Fast X<\/a> \u2014 having hit theaters in 2023.<\/p>\n

\n\tFranchise star Vin Diesel<\/a>, known for his role as Dominic Toretto, celebrated the news on Instagram<\/a>, posting a photo of himself with late co-star Paul Walker<\/a>, who played Brian O\u2019Conner in the films. Walker died in November 2013 while Furious 7 was still in production, and his character\u2019s scenes were completed through CGI, archival footage and the use of brothers Caleb and Cody Walker as stand-ins. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cNo one said the road would be easy\u2026 but it\u2019s ours,\u201d Diesel wrote in his post. \u201cOne that has defined us and become our legacy\u2026 And a legacy\u2026 lasts Forever. March 17th 2028! FAST FOREVER.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tA sequel to Fast X was initially slated to hit theaters in spring of 2025 but was delayed, and Universal has yet to share details about the filmmaking team, cast or plot for Fast Forever. Back in February 2024, Diesel posted to Instagram that the series\u2019 forthcoming 11th film would mark the finale<\/a> for the franchise\u2019s core story. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cJust finished our end of the week Fast meeting with the writers and the whole team\u2026 to say the excitement for our finale was incredibly powerful is an understatement,\u201d he wrote at the time. \u201cThis grand finale is not just an ending; it\u2019s a celebration of the incredible family we\u2019ve built together. Hope to make you proud!\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tLast year, the actor attended Fuel Fest, an automotive event that Cody Walker organized. During the event, Diesel announced that the next movie<\/a> would feature a \u201creturn to the car culture, to the street racing.\u201d He also teased a reunion for Dom and Brian and added, \u201cThat is what you\u2019re going to get in the finale.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe franchise, which includes the 2019 spinoff Hobbs & Shaw that starred Dwayne Johnson<\/a> and Jason Statham, has surpassed $7 billion at the global box office after launching with 2001\u2019s The Fast and the Furious. Fast X included such franchise mainstays as Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster and Sung Kang, along with newer additions like Statham, John Cena, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, Jason Momoa and a cameo from Johnson\u2019s Hobbs.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn his review of Fast X<\/a> for The Hollywood Reporter, critic Frank Scheck wrote that the addition of Momoa is \u201cone of the best things to ever happen to the franchise.\u201d<\/p>\n
